The defense needs to get this on the record, or at least attempt to, in order to preserve the issue for appeal. There is no question that they will appeal the issues of the admissibility of the interviews, leading the police to her body etc.

No, but earlier in the evening if he asked to leave they should have allowed it. I don't think it's ever been said he asked to leave, but he was told he was free to go and the Romero showed him the door was unlocked. He had many breaks and his phone. If his family called and texted, I'm sure they would have texted we are outside. He didn't ask to see them or to leave. That is on him not the police for not allowing it.

There was no obligation for the police to allow family in. CB could have left and he had his phone.

I also think Romero was trying to build rapport and trust with CBR. Since he was thinking he was there about immigration (so he says) at first and she was trying to get him to open up and start talking, I think allowing family in during that time would have ruined that. Since he didn't ask to see them, I think they were right by not suggesting it. If he asked and they denied that, then it might be different. Just my opinion.

I can't really tell by the pictures, either. I thought the ME examiner said that the neck wound may have been consistent with a slashing motion. It was near the jugular and carotid artery. Whatever the case, it was a frenzied, brutal attack.

I don't know how someone escalates to this kind of violent crime without any history of assault or aggressive behavior.
