“According to court documents, during a search, law enforcement officers located Graber’s body Wednesday afternoon in Chautauqua park in Fairfield, where she was known to routinely walk in the afternoons.

The body was hidden under a tarp, a wheelbarrow and railroad ties. Investigators say Graber had suffered inflicted trauma to the head. It’s believed the crime was carried out late Tuesday afternoon.

Court documents state that during the investigation, authorities spoke to an associate of the two suspects. That person provided police with social media communications involving Miller and Goodale, that reportedly contained details about the motive for killing Graber, the planning and execution of the crime and how they could conceal the murder. The motive has not been revealed at this time.”

One of the deceased woman’s friends quoted in the article described her as “one of those teachers that she expected a lot out of you. But she was there for you 100%” and “If you needed help, she would do whatever she needed to do, she loved teaching, she loved her students.”
So it sounds like she was not at all a pushover or the kind of teacher to be pressured into passing an underperforming student, or not reporting violations of academic integrity, and I wonder if perhaps these two students had some kind of issue with her that led to them apparently plotting to murder her.

Two teens charged with killing Fairfield teacher; victim suffered head trauma

“Court documents reveal that officials received a tip during their investigation that included information about a social media exchange indicating Goodale had knowledge of Graber’s disappearance and death. The exchange also included information about plans to kill the Fairfield high school teacher, including a motive and efforts to conceal the murder. Social media exchanges also indicated Miller was involved and present at the time of Graber’s death.

Search warrants were executed at the homes of both Miller and Goodale where investigators said they collected clothing that appeared to contain blood. Officials said they spoke to an acquaintance who saw the teens in Chautauqua Park on Tuesday afternoon.

The criminal complaint said that Miller admitted to investigators that he was in the park at the time of the murder, provided materials used in the killing, and then helped to conceal it.”

Trying to clarify. The associate of the two defendants was not at the park. The associate saw some kind of social media after the murder with evidence and gave that information to law enforcement.

??
Edited to add after the murder

I just saw this on Facebook. Those mugshots! One actually looks pleased with himself.
Most likely he will no longer be smirking after being placed in general population ?
Imagine throwing the rest of your life away at their young age ?

This poor woman was beaten to death.
Why ?

Her family is more gracious than the young men deserve.
They've already said they forgive the perps.

They look like entitled, arrogant punks. IMO.
Yes, sadly they do.

Eta : Why the smirks in their mugshots ? :(
They do not look remorseful or repentant.
Given their youthful age, wonder if they'll be out by about 25-30 ?
My opinion is they'll still be a danger to society and should be locked up for the remainder of their lives.
Imo these teens have shown what they are capable of !
Sounds harsh to some; but Nohema's death was harsh.
MOO.

Assuming here that she took her walks in the afternoons.
Broad daylight.
Did they tape her mouth so no one could hear her screaming for help ?
Unless it was one swift blow and she was unconscious.
I hope she felt nothing !!!

Rest forever in gentle peace, Nohema ! :(

Willard Noble Chaiden Miller and Jeremy Everett Goodale have both been charged as adults for the first-degree murder of 66 year-old Nohema Graber, who was found dead in the sleepy Iowa town of Fairfield on November 3.

Graber taught the pair Spanish at the nearby Fairfield High School, with her son Christian and daughter Nohema both taking to Facebook in the aftermath of their mom's killing to say they'd forgiven her alleged murderers.

The suspects' mugshots were released Thursday night, with cops saying the pair plotted the pre-meditated murder of Graber as she took one of her regular strolls through Chautauqua Park on Tuesday.

Graber was last seen alive on November 2, was reported missing by her concerned family the next morning, with her remains found under a tarp, wheelbarrow and railroad ties on November 3.

She had suffered head trauma, although a cause of death hasn't been revealed.

Cops have said the killing was pre-meditated, but have not revealed a motive.

They also allege that Miller and Goodale discussed the murder on social media after the killing, but haven't offered further detail on the nature of those postings, what platform they were made on, and whether they were public or private.

Court documents released Thursday detailing the criminal complaints against the two teens reveal that Miller admitted to investigators that he took part in the murder.

During the interview with detectives, Miller allegedly admitted he was at the park as the murder was taking place, provided materials used in the murder and helped hide Graber's body, the complaint reveals.

Authorities said the two juveniles will be tried as adults, citing circumstances and their ages. They are both being held on a $1 million bail, records show.

Court documents filed Thursday from their initial appearance in court indicate they did not yet have attorneys. Both appeared via video conference.

This article says the two accused were her students, which supports my initial speculation about motive.
