A sudden blizzard struck the hunting party while Dorsey was going out to find the carcass of a deer he'd shot. He has never been heard from again and searchers later found the deer he'd been looking for.

According to news reports, a Murtaugh, Idaho man named Pickett had been seen Dorsey walking down the road and offered him the ride in his truck, but there were two passengers in the cab and no room for anyone else, so Dorsey sat in the back. At the bottom of the hill, he wanted out of the truck. Dorsey's family is attempting to locate Pickett to see what he might know, but authorities have been unable to substantiate the story about about the truck ride.

The Cassia County Sheriff's Office is asking people that frequent the South Hills during hunting season to keep an eye out for the remains of a 19-year-old that disappeared in the area in 1961.

it's been 60 years since Paul, Idaho, resident Floyd Dorsey vanished while on a hunting trip south of Twin Falls. On Tuesday (September 14), the Idaho Cold Case Facebook page shared a Cassia County Sheriff's Office post pertaining to the decades old missing persons case. If Dorsey were alive today, he'd be nearly 80.

Dorsey's hometown of Paul is less than 40-miles east of Twin Falls. According to details given by fellow hunters who were with Dorsey on the October, 20, 1961 trip, he left the campsite by himself carrying a rifle, and wearing a jacket, jeans and boots. The article shared by the sheriff's office also states that a man driving a truck the following day (Saturday, October 21), reported possibly picking up Dorsey after locating him cold and wet.

Cassia County Sheriff George Warrell authored the post on September 14, and acknowledged that the passing of such a long time likely makes it very difficult that Dorsey's remains will be found. Warrell asked area recreational enthusiasts, and hunters, to watch out for any articles of clothing that appear aged. With hunting season approaching, the South Hills will be full of fresh sets of eyes.

<<The sheriff acknowledges the case is very old but had recently been approached by Dorsey's family to look into it. Sheriff Warrell wrote he hopes with hunting season approaching someone might spot something like a rifle, piece of clothing or skeletal remains. The last time the group had seen Dorsey was as he went off alone with just a light jacket, rifle, and boots down into Trout Creek Canyon. The sheriff said the last confirmed sighting of Dorsey was found in an old news article that reported Dorsey had been picked up by someone who took him up to a campsite near some corrals near Trout Creek Canyon. Another group camping their said they had seen Dorsey cold, wet, and ill-prepared for the weather. Sheriff Warrell said according to reports at the time there had been several hunters stranded by the storm across the state while two other hunters in Cassia County died in the storm. "I completely understand that it has been a very long time. I am just hoping, at this point, to put this information out there in the event that someone, someday, comes across the gun, remains, clothing, or something that will help resolve this case and give the family some much needed closure," wrote Warrell.>>
