    Missing girl’s documentary airs Sunday

A documentary about the Oct. 11, 1993, disappearance of 9-year-old Stephanie Crane of Challis airs Sunday on the Investigative Discovery Channel program “Disappeared.”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of her disappearance.

Video crews and producers were in Challis in November shooting footage and gathering information about the case from Custer County Sheriff’s Office. Many local people appear as extras on the show in re-enactments of the extensive search for the girl.

Viewers should check their local listings, but the episode airs on DIRECTV channel 285 at 6 p.m. and repeats at 9 p.m. Dish Network viewers can catch the program at 6 p.m. on channel 192. Cable One viewers in Idaho Falls can find the show on channel 112.

Just watched the Disappeared episode. Crazy that after so many good leads they still never found her. I don't think she is alive, but i hope that poor grandmother someday gets closure by the discovery of her remains.

I just watched Disappeared and I was wondering if they found her backpack at the school. Her one friend said she was going back there.

I was surprised they didn't tie up that loose end in the episode - did she ever make it back to the school to get the backpack?!?

I just saw the new "Disappeared" episode....omg....heartbreaking that Stephanie has never been found! And my heart just broke for her grandmother! What an amazing woman. How awful her father died with no answers! And how awful for her sisters and the rest of the community!

It seems there were major resources applied for the early stages (searches, FBI, fax distrivution etc etc) and I have no doubt LE wants this case solved and has worked hard. The episode revealed some promising suspects. One question I have who else disappeared from the state around that time? The thought of her crying, possibly being held in that room in the basement is horrific and heartbreaking! Gosh...

To learn about Stephanie's case last night just made me feel really, really sad....it's so unfair!

Dubiel is now the jail administrator. At 27 years, she has the longest tenure of anyone currently working at the Sheriff’s Office.

She emails a news release every year near the anniversary of Stephanie’s disappearance to media far and wide.

“I don’t want people to ever forget,” Dubiel said. “This might be the year that someone remembers something. You never know. I don’t want to give up hope.”

Dubiel still hopes Stephanie might be found alive. It’s happened in the case of three Ohio girls, she pointed out, who were kidnapped and held in captivity for a decade. Or, human remains might be found and identified as Stephanie’s, at least bringing family members some closure.

“Personally, I don’t think any missing person case should ever be closed,” Dubiel said, especially when a child is abducted.
Case may be cold, but search for Stephanie Crane continues

Just saw this case on the ID channel... surprised that in 25 years, this is the first I've heard of her. Where is she?

Re: article above - for those who followed this case in depth, did the name/location dropped by the commenter ring a bell?
