Nathan Carroll Takes the Stand in the Murder Trial of Bonnie Woodward

Special Prosecutor Jennifer Mudge called Nathan Carroll to the stand. Nathan was 16 when the murder happened. Mudge asked Nathan Carroll about his childhood growing up. Nathan said to the jury that he knew Bonnie Woodward stepdaughter Heather Woodward from his church.

He also said it was Roger Carroll’s idea for Heather to run away and move with them. During his testimony, Nathan said his dad said several times: "Bonnie must go away."

Nathan was granted immunity for his testimony.

The fragments were sent to university experts who said two of the fragments were not from Woodward and the others were so degraded by fire or so small that no DNA evidence could be extracted. Davis did not explain the origin of the fragments that were not linked to Woodward

The prosecution asked Davis if the bone fragments, key, and button found in the search could be prehistorical and he said: “no it was not prehistorical and it was forensic.” He also said the condition of the bones indicated that a significant fire had burned the bones
