Deceased/Not Found IL - Zaraz Walker, 7 months, reported 5 days later, Bloomington, 8 Feb 2022 *mom guilty insanity*

On Sunday at 11:30 p.m., the Bloomington Police Department received a call requesting a well-being check on an infant. The caller was concerned about the infant's (who also lived with Burton and his two children) well-being and could not locate anyone who was taking care of the infant.

BPD began the missing juvenile investigation. Officers attempted to speak with the mother, who was still at the McLean County Jail.

Arrest made in missing infant case, baby still missing

Looks like the mom is uncooperative... This is not good:(.

Wonder who last saw the baby ~5 days before father reported concerns... timing is weird, that the mother just so happened to get arrested for shoplifting the week her child went missing. Fingers crossed that she had asked someone, maybe unqualified, to watch the baby and isn't revealing it because she doesn't want to relinquish custody to the father. I get the impression they weren't on good terms. With all the cases involving children lately though, it's hard to stay positive.

Woman arrested as investigation continues into missing infant
Burton was arrested around 5 p.m. for child endangerment for the 5 and 6-year-old who were left at her residence without supervision after her initial arrest.
[snip]

“We implore members of the community to view at Zaraz’s and Burton’s photo and to please call us with any tips or information,” said police chief Jamal Simington. “We believe Zaraz was last seen 5 - 7 days ago, and could be anywhere.”

Kimberlee Burton, 29, was taken into custody at a store on Market Street midday Saturday. Officers say two children ages 5 and 6 were home alone at the time. The children's grandmother picked them up and late Saturday night someone called and alerted police about a third child who had been living with Burton — the missing 7-month-old girl, Zaraz Walker.

Officer John Fermon, a spokesman for Bloomington police, told The Pantagraph they've been searching for Walker over the last two or three days. He said on Wednesday crews searched near the 300 block of East Wood Street, plus the vicinity to the south by Evergreen Cemetery.

Fermon said they've had different officers from several shifts looking for the infant. He said BPD had no updates to release early Thursday afternoon on the investigation.

McLEAN COUNTY (25 NEWS) - A mother arrested as the investigation continues into a missing infant made no mention of having children to law enforcement during her arrest or while in jail.

Kimberlee Burton, 29, also denied having kids to law enforcement when asked about it later.
Prosecutor: Mother didn’t mention kids at arrest or in jail
oh waaaooo... from the link: "During Burton’s bonding court on charges of child endangerment, the state in which a 5 & 6-year-old were described -- it is alleged that they were left alone with the door unlocked, cold, hungry and without shoes and underwear."

how long were they alone? when did LE find out?

Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington said he believes "Zaraz was last seen five to seven days ago, and could be anywhere." Police continue to ask for public help in the case.

BPD: Woman arrested on child endangerment charges, but baby still missing

No new news :( I did just notice that LE has a range during which this little one was last seen.
what a sweet baby boo..... so best case scenario and this is me being very hopeful, is that whomever has the baby doesnt want CPS to take custody and is not stable enough for CPS to allow them to care for her.

To not talk about your children of 5 and 6 when you left them alone when you are out at a store and arrested does not bode well for the missing infant IMO. Wondering if something awful happened to the baby on a previous time she left them. What are the odds that you get caught the first time that you do something like this? Hope I am wrong.

oh i am sure this had occurred before. i think she didnt say because she was more concerned beng charged / kids taken by CPS than their safety.

Asking for possible sightings since Dec 2021...

Chief Jamal Simington said, "It is imperative that we continue to leverage the appropriate resources in this investigation to locate Zaraz. We are actively seeking tips and information regarding her location. No matter how small of a detail it is, we would you like to contact us if you have seen her since December 2021. We are pushing forward with a diligent investigation but do not have additional details to share with the public at this time."
