*Pretrial Conference Hearing (all cases) (@ 1:30pm ET) – IN - Amanda Blackburn (28) (was 12 weeks pregnant shot to death, Nov. 10, 2015, Indianapolis) - *Diano Cortez Gordan (24/now 30) arrested (11/19/15) on unrelated charges for parole violation. Plus charged (1/14/16) with 2 counts of murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, 2 counts of burglary, theft, intimidation, criminal confinement & battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. Plead not guilty.
Gordon: Change of plea (4/5/21) Plead guilty to count 5. Case #49D31-1601-MR-001659-Plea on 5/23/18: Counts 1-4 & 6 were all dismissed. 1) Murder, 2) Murder, 3) Burglary, 4) Theft where value of property is, 6) Habitual Offender & Plea by agreement: 5) Robbery W/serious bodily injury.
Case #49D31-1512-F4-043993-Plea of guilty on 5/23/18: Counts 2, 4, 5 were all dismissed. 1) Burglary, burglary of a dwelling, 2) Theft where value of property is between $750 & $50k, 3) Burglary, burglary of a dwelling, 4) Theft where value of property is between $750 & $50k, 5) Habitual Offender & Plea of guilty by Agreement (all counts): 1) Burglary, burglary of a dwelling & 3) Burglary, burglary of a dwelling.
Larry Jo Taylor Jr. & Jalen Watson have been charged & arraigned (12/22/15) for their alleged roles in a burglary & rape of a woman November 3, 2015 at her west side apartment.
12/8/21 Update: By request sentencing date has been rescheduled to 5/6/22 @ 9:30am. 5/4/22: Motion for continuance filed by defense. 5/5/22: Order-Motion for continuance-granted. 5/6/22 Update: Defendant present, Borland not present; State by Vandeventer for Hixson. Next pretrial conference on 5/19/22 @ 1:30pm via video.
*Larry Jo Taylor, Jr. (18/now 24) - Trial which started 12/6/21 was declared a mistrial. Hernandez murder: pretrial hearing on 5/20/22. Robbery, Rape & other charges: Pretrial hearing on 5/20/22. Jury selection begins on 6/3/22 & trial set to begin on 7/18/22. Blackburn murder: jury selection starts on 6/3/22.
*Jalen Emmanuel Watson (21/now 27) - Plead guilty (10/27/21) & sentenced to 29 years. Earliest possible release date: 8/17/2037.
 
@Niner At this point, it looks like things are still on track for Taylor's trial. Then, they will sentence Gordan?

Jury selection is scheduled for 6/03, which is a Friday. I wonder if that's a good idea. Will they all be able to keep their curiosity under control?

If Gordan is supposed to testify against Taylor, then they do usually put sentencing after the trial. At least that has been my experience in different trials. Today Gordan only has a pretrial hearing.

*Pretrial Conference Hearing (@ 9:30pm) (Other charges & Hernandez) & Jurors in to fill out questionnaires (Blackburn murder) (@ 9:30am CT) – IN - Amanda Blackburn (28) (was 12 weeks pregnant shot to death, Nov. 10, 2015, Indianapolis) - *Larry Jo Taylor, Jr. (18/now 24) arrested & charged (11/23/15) & arraigned (11/25/15) with murder willful intent, murder in the course of a burglary, murder in the course of a robbery, murder enhancement, carrying a handgun without a license, criminal confinement, 2 counts burglary (11/10/15), 2 counts of theft (11/10/15), 3 counts of rape (11/3/15), robbery resulting in serious bodily injury (11/3/15), public indecency & public nudity. Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
Watson & Gordon confessed that Taylor was the shooter. In the Nov. 3, 2015 case, tests found that Taylor's DNA matched samples found on the victim & her clothing.
Trial was set to begin on 12/6/21 for murder only, but was declared a mistrial by Judge Grant Hawkins when a juror found out that Amanda was pregnant.
Trial rescheduled on 4/22/22 for jury selection & trial to begin on 4/25/22 continued to 6/3/22 with jury selection & trial begins on 6/6/22. (for murder only).
Trial set to begin on 7/18/22 (for rape & robbery on 11/3/15).

12/6/21: Motion to amend information filed (amend information interlineation, motion). Defense & State waive mask but agree to maintain table length distance. Motion to suppress 1st time phone number given by defendant. Motion to suppress 2nd time defendant gave number after advised. 12/6/21 Monday, Trial Day 1: Jury selection began. Was seated with 12 jurors & 3 alternates. BUT! Judge Grant Hawkins declared a mistrial. Taylor is one of three men originally charged & the only one who was not given a plea deal. Taylor is not facing charges for the death of the unborn baby, which is why the judge declared a mistrial when jurors found out about the pregnancy. “This just being a mistrial indicates nobody did anything wrong, it was just a set of facts that came up & they determined that they could no longer go to the jury & get a fair outcome,” John Tompkins, a criminal defense attorney said. The other defendants in the case, Jalen Watson & Diano Gordon, accepted a plea deal & agreed to help prosecutors with the case against Taylor. Officials tell us we should learn more information later this week about when jury selection begins again. One juror asked Judge Grant Hawkins why this case is taking so long. Judge Hawkins cited COVID, whittling down 100 witnesses to 33 & a series of attorneys over the years. Order granting motion to amend information. Parties will meet with Judge on Wednesday, 12/8/21 @ 1pm.
12/8/21 Update: Blackburn: Next hearing for jury selection on 4/22/22 @ 9:30am. Trial set to begin on 4/25/22 @ 8:30am. 12/9/21 Update: Rape & robbery: Next pretrial conference hearings on 4/22/22 & 4/25/22 & trial set to begin on 7/18/22 @ 9am. Ok... I don't know what's with the 49G05 number; when I type it in, the 49D31 number comes up. They appear to be the same case. I'll delete the 49G05 from my file. I always copy/paste file numbers so I won't make a mistake. Maybe they changed courts and never made the correction?

I'll check out their cases by name and get back to you.
 
@Niner These are the case numbers that come up with a name search; so let's go with them. It's interesting that when I type in your case number for the rape, the case number below comes up. 49D31 is Judge Hawkins court and that's where all the cases are being tried. The public indecency case is tracking with the trial.

Well - you can leave me out of that one!!! LOL! I like one defendant and a couple of charges against - not these multiple defendants - it gets frustrating trying to follow each one - but you know how that is! :D

I know it's a bit early to ask @FrostedGlass - but I was going to print up some "new" note sheets tomorrow & was wondering if the murder trial is still on for 6/3 for jury selection for Taylor? With trial starting on 6/6.
On rape charge I have pretrial hearing on 6/3, 6/10 & jury trial on 7/18.
On Public indecency - next pretrial hearing on 6/10.
Hernandez - next pretrial hearing on 6/9 & 6/10.

A-Okay??!! TIA!
