(Oct. 26, 2018 found unconscious, Elwood; pronounced dead Oct. 29, 2018) – *Alyson Stephen (23/now 24) “mom” arrested (10/26/18) & charged (11/8/18) with Level 1 felony neglect of a dependent resulting in death & charged (5/16/19) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. $35K cash only bond. *Jacob Stephen Wootton () “step dad” arrested (10/31/18) & charged (11/1/18) with level 1 felony neglect of a dependent resulting in death, Invasion of Privacy-Violates a no contact order issued, resisting Law Enforcement def. knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia & habitual offender & charged (5/16/19) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. $35K cash only bond.
Active no-contact order between Wootton & Stephen after Elwood police arrested Wootton for allegedly hitting Stephen in front of her 4- & 2-year-old children in March of 2018.
Trial set to begin on 6/2/20 (for Wootton only).

3/2/20 Update: State indicates Wootton would be tried first. Defense indicates possible additional witnesses and that depositions and/or an investigator may be necessary but need to speak with the State to make further determination. Comes now the Court and schedules this matter for further final pretrial conference, attorneys only, on 4/13/20 at 1:00pm. Date also serves as Defense's deadline for expert witness disclosure. The Court notes that parties are to continue working towards trial as scheduled, including depositions, and the Court will not consider a continuance based on need to take depositions.
3/18/20 Update: The Judicial branch is taking appropriate steps to respond to COVID-19, and courts around the state are implementing plans to postpone jury trials, allow for remote hearings, and keep only essential staff in courthouses.
4/13/20 Update: Next trial readiness hearing & final motions deadline on 5/4/20.

But they have never said "when" Alyson's was going to be.
