Thursday, Nov. 13th:
*Pretrial Conference Hearing (@ 9am ET) – IN - Cairo Ammar Jordan (5) was found about 7:30pm Saturday night, April 16, 2022 by a mushroom hunter in the heavily wooded area of Washington County off a dead-end road, 80 ft. from a roadway inside a suitcase with a distinctive Las Vegas design on the front & back near the town of New Pekin. May have died within the last week. He was identified on October 26, 2022. He would have turned 6 on 10/23/22. – *DeJaune Ludie Anderson (37/now 40) "mom" has warrant (10/14/22) out for her arrest for neglect of a dependent resulting in death & obstruction of justice. A subsequent murder warrant was issued on 10/25/22. Has not been located as of 4/14/23. Arrested (3/14/24 in L.A. & extradited back to IN. on 3/31/24), charged (3/15/24) & arraigned (4/2/24) with murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death & obstruction of justice. Held without bond. Found competent to stand trial on 2/5/25. Washington County
Trial set to begin on 1/6/26.

12/9/25 Update: Anderson was set to stand trial in southern Indiana next year, but the case was dismissed & her trial was moved to Louisville. Washington County Prosecutor Tara Coats Hunt announced the update in a Dec. 9 Facebook post: According to the post, a Jefferson County, Kentucky, grand jury returned an indictment 12/8/25 against Anderson in the homicide case involving the death of 5-year-old Cairo Jordan. She's now facing charges of murder, manslaughter, criminal abuse & abuse of a corpse. She'll appear in court 12/15/25 & a judge already set a $500,000 bond. Anderson's trial was originally scheduled for October 2025 in Washington County but was moved to Jan. 6, 2026. Anderson was committed to a psychiatric facility in August 2024 & eventually found fit to stand trial. The venue change was granted after Hunt requested Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers review the investigation into Cairo's murder & consider presenting the case to a grand jury. Anderson will now be prosecuted by Whethers & her office. Hunt's post said the complex case involves facts & evidence spanning both Indiana & Kentucky & she decided to move the case to Jefferson County for a better chance of conviction. *Dawn Elaine Coleman (40/now 43) - 11/21/23: Coleman plead guilty. Judgment by Judge Larry W. Medlock. Count 1-Aiding, inducing or causing murder, Count 2-Neglect of a dependent resulting in death & count 3-Obstruction of Justice are dismissed. Count 4-Conspiracy to commit murder conspiracy results in death. Sentenced to 30 years, jail credit 367 days, 5 years suspended. Defendant shall pay all court cost & fees. Probation for 5 years. Defendant agrees to cooperate & give truthful testimony in Cause No 88C01-2210-F1-833 Entitled State of Indiana vs. Dejaune L. Anderson & any other criminal case that may be brought against Dejaune L. Anderson resulting from the death of Cairo Jordan.
