What in the name of tarnation did I just read?!?!

For gosh sakes, throw the bones away if you didn't want them, or give them back to whoever gave them to you. But why call the police with lies? And don't be involving innocent dogs in your lying schemes! Grrrr...

There's another news story from near my place in Kentucky that is just as stupid. It made me think about this thread.

Some guy claims that he "accidentally" sodomized an 8-y/o boy because he was tired and thought it was his girlfriend.

POLICE: Elizabethtown man claimed he 'accidentally' sodomized 8-year-old

Three NAMUS UNIDENTIFIED files were just added today for the remains found in Worthville:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
Circumstances of Recovery: Skeletal remains were in possession of an individual who claims they were hiding stolen artifacts. Two mandibles also recovered.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
Circumstances of Recovery "Mandible A" part of skeletal remains in possession of person claiming they were hiding stolen artifacts
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
Circumstances of Recovery "Mandible B" part of skeletal remains in possession of person claiming to be hiding stolen artifacts

All three are identified as "White / Caucasian" and Mandible B is from a Male.

So does this mean they were not really "artifacts" after all?

Do they know whose storage unit they broke into? That could possibly give them a roundabout idea of where the original “owner” of the bones got ahold of them.

Would “regular” DNA testing do much to help find out who the bones truly originally belonged to?
If the bones went into the market due to grave robbers, relatives wouldn’t even have any reason to think to submit DNA samples. They likely assume that their late relative is resting peacefully outside the church down the road. With no reason to suspect otherwise.

If the people that had them in their storage unit somehow ordered them online or via any kind of mail-order, they could’ve had come from anywhere. ANYWHERE. Any place or any time. Are those people even still around?
