I truly hope Darlene is still alive, but it doesn't seem likely does it? Especially given the way she disappeared. My heart breaks for all of these women and their families.

Masterj - please check your pms

I don't know if this has already been posted but here it is anyway......:)

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Investigators who released decades-old pictures of about 50 women photographed by a murderer said Thursday that they believe more than half the women are alive, but that three appear to be homicide victims.

Several of those photographed by death row inmate William Richard Bradford have yet to be identified, but Los Angeles County sheriff's investigators said they have tentatively identified 31 women ....more at this link.....

I'm pleased that they've identified up to 31, they're making progress!

One of the members posted that picture 39 could be Jamie Grisim, who has been missing since 1971. I initially didn't think it was a good match, since Jamie went missing from Vancouver Washington and none of the information posted on her would suggest that she might have been an aspiring model or intent on traveling to California. I was waiting for more pictures to be identified by police. Number 39 has not yet been identified, and I am less hesitant to connect Jamie to Bradford because (a) he has been connected to the runaway from Iowa and (b) the news reports state that he was in Oregon for a time. (Vancouver is ten minutes away from Portland over the interstate bridge).

Jamie's sister lives in the area and can be contacted about the possible match. I am hesitant to do this unless there is some real possibility of connecting Jamie to girl #39. Can someone with more professional experience take a look at it? Attached are two web site's with good information and pictures about the case.

I think Jamie looks very similar to #6. Even down to the head tilt. JMO.

I am confused about info in the above referenced news item:

"Donnalee Campbell Duhamel's decapitated body was found in Malibu in 1978. Her photo was among 54 that were found in William Richard Bradford's Mar Vista apartment 20 years ago but were never investigated. Los Angeles County sheriff's officials released the photos last week in hopes of learning more about the women."

But then states:

""Basically my mom just disappeared and was gone," said Duhamel's other daughter, Lisa Mora. "Never even had a funeral. There was no body. I want to know what happened to her."

Was the mother's body found or not? Was her picture in the group of photos or not? If the body was found, was it not returned to the family? :(

ETA: Okay, I see where the mother was identified in the photos, but why didn't the family receive the body?!?!

I was confused by that, too. This might explain it.

Cached AP article
“My mom just disappeared, and now she's getting the attention I feel she deserves,” said Lisa Mora, 36, who was only 7 when her mother vanished. The family got confirmation of the death eight years later, she said.

It was 8 years from the time of her disappearance until the family learned what has happened to her. I guess the body must have been a Jane Doe all those years -- unable to be identified because the head was missing. Wikipedia says that DNA profiling was developed in 1984. Apparently, Donnalee's body was identified in 1986.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Scout.

How horrible for the daughters and the rest of the family....So very sad. :(
