Funeral Services for Ahlittia North will begin Monday at 9:00 a.m. in Gonzales. The funeral itself will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Assembly Church. North will be buried in Donaldsonville. A fund set up at Capital One bank is helping to pay for the funeral expenses.

During her short life, she was bounced around among relatives in the Baton Rouge area, lived in a rundown motel in a shady part of the capital, spent nearly a year with another relative in north Texas and was interviewed by police amid claims that her stepfather had been molesting her.

The discovery of her tiny body stuffed in a Harvey trash can, after she was brutally stabbed to death, marked a sad end for a girl who faced long odds from the start.

OMG this is so sad, it's bringing tears to my eyes. Poor little Ahlitta. The molestation charges are making me wonder if the step father had anything to do with this. After all it was his cousin or nephew that was charged.

Regarding the mom.....baby at 14, baby's father goes to jail, starts co-habitating at age 15 with a 41 year old man who (to me) appears to have encouraged her to commit theft, etc. I don't she ever really had a chance, either, to be honest.

Shocked and saddened about the investigation into the step-father about molestation. To me, "inconclusive" results are never good. They imply that virginity was not intact, but that she didn't have signs of trauma or tearing. And, of course, after bouncing around from home to home as often as she did- she could have molested at any number of places by any number of people- so "inconclusive" may just mean that investigators couldn't determine how long ago this happened.

You are free now Ahlittia. No one can hurt you now.

I knew there was something hinky about the stepfather. I really hope that law enforcement takes a really close look at him and his possible involvement in Ahlittia's horrific death. It took just two weeks in her mother and stepfather's care, and she ended up losing her life. I also believe that she was molested. How consistent would a four year old child's statements be under duress?! Poor, little sweetie. Rest in Peace, Ahlittia.

The Jefferson Parish detective said that during the confession Flugence said he saw North walking near the apartment she lived in with her mother. Flugence told the detective, "(Ahlittia) wanted to have sex with him."

An autopsy report confirmed four stab wounds to Ahlittia North's body, the same number the suspect, Matthew Flugence, admitted to in his confession. During the confession, Detective Easterman testified that, “Flugence told them he stabbed her once while she was standing, once sitting, two more times laying on her blanket on the ground.”

He added that Flugence said, "She was in pain, rolling around on the blanket." And when asked what he did when he saw that she was in pain, Flugence said, "I watched her die."

I read in our local paper today that Alittia had been living with her bio father and grandmother prior to living with her mother and step-dad. The article also mentioned that she had only been with her mother and step-dad a few weeks. There were also a 1 year old and 9month old at the residence who the perp also baby-sat! What a monster!

Do you, or does anyone know whether the other children were checked for possible abuse?

Let me quote yourself, from two months ago:

Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich said Wednesday that a pediatric rape kit performed during the autopsy found no obvious signs of sexual assault, including trauma, bruising or lacerations. But pathologists are still awaiting the results of other testing.

AFAIK, he just said she wanted to have sex, he didn't say he sctually HAD sex with her. Of course that may be used as an "excuse" for signs of sexual intercourse, but I'm not sure we have a mentally 100% capable individual here that calculates his statements that way.
