A massive search effort is expected to get underway on Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, for 48-year-old Garrett Wilson.

Wilson’s family said it was his girlfriend who saw him last, back on Friday morning, Jan. 24.

Now his family and friends fear foul play could be involved.

Wilson has a criminal history. He served 7 years, 3 months in federal prison after pleading guilty in 2009 to defrauding the Bossier Parish School Board. In 1995, he was sentenced to 15 years as an accessory to murder and armed robbery for his involvement in the murder of a man on Interstate 49 in DeSoto Parish.

1995 was 25 years ago. Any chance any of his old acquaintances have been recently released ? Just thinking out loud.

Search group canvasses areas of Haughton for missing Bossier City man

Friends, family and others spent hours searching in the mud and cold in areas of Bossier Parish on Wednesday looking for Garrett Gene Wilson, or at least clues on where the Bossier City man might be.

Those who know him said he may have been planning to go fishing. However, they also said he was allegedly last seen going into someone else’s vehicle on Friday but hadn’t been heard from since.

Wilson frequents Caddo Lake when fishing, but all his vehicles and fishing gear is at his house.

the search group canvased both the north and south sides of the Flat River Bridge and other areas nearby; including the secluded areas around Oaklawn Cemetery behind a church on Sligo Road.

And at this point, police say, there still is no indication of foul play.

[...]

Volunteers first gathered at Neighbors Travel Plaza at Sligo Road at Louisiana Highway 157.

That’s near a bridge over the Flat River on which Wilson’s cellphone was found by relatives just days ago.

The extent of the turnout Wednesday meant a lot to Wilson’s ex-wife, Jennifer Madison.

“It’s everything. It’s everything. And they’ll never know how much we appreciate it.”

[...]

“We’re a nationally recognized team,” he said of his group, the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue team.

[...]

The team has high-risk deployment K-9s.

“And they do both land and aquatics,” Wade explained.

“They reached out and went over the system in the search today with the K-9s.”

Deputies searching for missing Bossier City man at Red Chute over the weekend

[...]

Lt. Billy Jones and Dep. Reigan Malmay launched a jon boat into Red Chute Bayou at the Sligo Road bridge and traveled south down the bayou to the Caplis-Sligo Road Bridge. They conducted a thorough visual search of the water and the banks of the bayou. Meanwhile, Det. Kelly Downey launched a drone over the same area to conduct a visual search from above.

... When Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington found out the family would be searching in the area today, he offered assistance with the Marine Patrol boat and drone.

“Missing persons cases are very difficult to work because there are so many possibilities,” said Chief Huddleston. “You don’t know if there is a medical issue involved, you don’t know if someone doesn’t want to be found, you don’t know if something has happened to somebody. So when you have a multitude of possibilities, what you start doing is eliminating those possibilities.”

I hope he is found soon. There has been so much rain in the region recently & quite a bit more is expected this week.

Rut roh. They're business partners, live in the same subdivision - just blocks away from one another - and they both disappeared from their homes? o_O

And, in the second link, there's another video in which the reporter says that Caddo Parish is watching these two MP cases carefully because of woman who went missing around the same time - Dorothy Yates-McCathran.

I'm going to start threads for business partner, John Hardy, and the missing woman, Yates-McCathran, if we don't have threads for them already.

This could get complicated... MOO

ETA:

LA - LA - John Hardy, 43, Bossier City, 19 Feb 2020

LA - LA - Dorothy Yates-McCathran, 40, Vivian, 21 Jan 2020

In this July 28 selfie inside the same vehicle, the windows have lettering that appear to be related to the heat and air business. Garrett Wilson
  • Side window I can make out Eagle, Home Improvements, and a phone number *
  • Rear window, can't see all of it but it looks like the word Eagle again and Conditioning

* Phone number matches Eagle Air Conditioning and Home Improvements, LLC and there are photos of the outside of the trucks.

I don't know what all this means yet - just noting it as I'm poking around. MOO

BCPD investigating whether disappearance of business partners, reported theft connected
  • John Hardy was reported missing by his family on Feb 19, hours after he was last seen around 11:45 a.m. at his Bayou Drive home in South Bossier.
  • Hardy owns an HVAC business and operates it out of his home.
  • He and Garrett Wilson were business partners.
  • Hardy filed a report on February 5, telling investigators that $80,000 had been stolen from his business.
  • BCPD says Hardy’s disappearance and the theft from his business are two separate cases but detectives are looking into whether they are connected.
  • Wilson had been helping Hardy run his HVAC business after Hardy injured himself last year.
  • Hardy uses a walker due to his previous injury to his left leg.
