Tangipahoa Parish investigators have charged an Amite City Police Department officer, 25-year-old Grant Carruth, for his alleged role in the kidnapping and rape of two women.
According to the TPSO, deputies were alerted over the past month that two women had been victims of kidnapping and sexual assault. Investigators identified Carruth as the suspect in both cases that happened on Aug. 11 and Sept. 20.
Investigators said that Carruth approached the victims and identified himself as a narcotics officer. He reportedly placed them in handcuffs and told them they were being arrested.
"The victims were transported to undisclosed locations within Tangipahoa Parish where they were forced to perform sexual acts against their will," the TPSO said. "In both cases, the alleged suspect would then drive the victims to other locations where they were released and subsequently contacted the Sheriff's Office."
