:rose: FLY FREE LEONARD COHEN. WE LOVE YOU. :rose:

There was always something extremely special about Leonard Cohen. I feel he touched peoples' hearts and souls. There's a real life story about him and his muse Marianne that is very interesting. Their connection spanned a lifetime. I like to think maybe she was able to reach out and pull him to the other side in grace and joy, and now they're laughing together.

Leonard Cohen’s muse Marianne Ihlen dies at age 81

Ihlen and Cohen met on the Greek island of Hydra in the 1960s when they were in their early 20s. The song “So Long, Marianne” was on his debut album in 1967.

Leonard Cohen Penned Letter to 'So Long, Marianne' Muse Before Her Death

...Well Marianne it's come to this time when we are really so old and our bodies are falling apart and I think I will follow you very soon," poet writes...
...Know that, I am so close behind you that if you stretch out your hand, I think you can reach mine...

Leonard Cohen penned an emotional final letter to Marianne Ihlen, the woman who inspired his "So Long, Marianne" and "Bird on the Wire," just days before her July 29th death, Ihlen's friend Jan Christian Mollestad revealed to the CBC.

Stupid video, but one of his greatest songs. I can seriously not stop crying.
Is there something medically wrong with me or what. ??

I spent the wee hours listening to Cohen and to the many great covers his songs inspired and crying. I understand that Leonard Cohen lived a long, creative and influential life. No one can ask for more. The loss feels very personal, maybe because I've spent so many hours since 1967, not only enjoying his songs, but thinking about them, identifying and puzzling. I'm kind of tuning up to cry again, so no, I don't think there's anything wrong with you.

Nothing wrong, you are alive. Your heart may be broken, but thank God it's open.

Leonard Cohen has sung me through my entire adult life. I know he knew his time here was ending, but that doesn't make it any easier to let him go.

"There's a blaze of light in every word
it doesn't matter which you heard
the broken or the holy Hallelujah." ("Hallelujah")

-----

"Oh, the wind, the wind is blowing
Through the graves the wind is blowing
Freedom soon will come... " ("Partisan")

-------
"There's a lullaby for suffering
and a paradox to blame
But it's written in the scriptures
And it's not some idle claim
You want it darker
We kill the flame

Henini, henini
I'm ready my lord" ("You Want it Darker")

RIP, Leonard Cohen.

So grateful to have heard his voice and words, a seer of the heart.

May he rest in song.
