Springfield Police Department

The Springfield Police Department is seeking your help to locate 23 year old Achim Bailey.

His family has not heard from him since late Friday night when he told his parents he was going to a bar on Hall of Fame Avenue. He did not return home and his cell phone either died or was turned off around 3:30am Saturday morning.

Mr. Bailey is approximately 5'7'', 170 lbs. If you have any information please contact Detective Lopez at 413-750-2379 or our non-emergency number 413-787-6302.

hall of fame avenue runs along the connecticut river (in some areas a few blocks away, in some areas closer), there is a walking and bike path along the river in that area, if he was walking i wonder if he could have used that path... it also leads directly to a bridge over the river. no mention of a vehicle.

FYI bars close at 2am in mass. (at the latest) so his phone was still on for an hour and a half after he could have last been at the bar.

hopefully they already know where it last pinged at.

I hope he is found soon. From what I‘m reading, Achim is loved by many.

Off topic: Achim is a German name. Surprised to see an American with that name. :)
 
hey, it gets more eyes here and you never know when an idea might pan out to something. Any issues he was experiencing presently that can be discussed here? Anyone who'd want to harm him? Any reasons he'd want to harm himself? Has the Uber angle been ferreted out?

OT - my partner's name is Jan. He's of German decent but totally American. Americans pronounce it as a hard J no matter what. Latino, Indian, and Asian folks have no trouble recognizing the soft J.
 
Since rumor has it that Achim's family has access to his FB (or at least Messenger), I wonder if it would be helpful to post something public on his page regarding his disappearance? Maybe that would help raise awareness among people who know him, and maybe someone would remember something.

i cant link it here but if you search twitter for his name then sort by latest you should find it at the top. fake donation pages happen all the time now related to missing persons cases. just looking out.

edit - looks like saturday is correct, the news article has not been updated to correct it but the post at the actual police page has.

5:30 PM Update: Seeing posts that he may have gone to Nathan Bill’s that night. Just got off the phone with the manager there and he tells me they checked with all their staff and no one recalls seeing Achim there Saturday night.

12:45 PM update: Springfield police tell me that they, along with the Massachusetts State Police, have been searching the area along the Connecticut River.

STILL MISSING: Have you seen him? This is 23-year-old Achim Bailey of Springfield who has been missing since this past weekend. He was last seen leaving Samuel’s at the Hall of Fame.

If you have seen him or know his whereabouts, call Detective Lopez at 413-750-2379 or the Springfield Police Department’s non-emergency number at 413-787-6302.
 
he has a very distinct face and smile imo, seems like if he had gone to that bar someone would remember him... hmmm.

edit - after checking the map, this bar isnt near the original location reported, it is 1.6 miles away as the crow flies. (nathan bill's)

So here is what doesn't seem to be adding up.... Achim is missing and without a trace, from what's being said, none of the cameras in a very popular, high night life traffic area work? He is said to have been escorted out of the bar by what folks have said were "Security", but yet no one knows anything after that. I understand that Springfield Police Department has a very large case load and many things to deal with, but it is very clear that there is not nearly enough effort going into these cases. It appears that folks are looked for by Law Enforcement for a very short time and then it's on to the next thing... If you aren't going to do his family due diligence, then make whatever leads you might have public and allow his friends and family to look into things.

Welcome to WS! I had seen that rumor about Achim being escorted out. It's a fine line of how we are allowed to discuss rumors such as this here, so I didn't bring it up. I would assume that the police know about this by now if it's true, and are at least looking into the possibility of something happening surrounding that event. I sure hope there is more going on behind the scenes with law enforcement than we know. It is possible they do have video footage and are trying to make sense of it. I sure hope so.
