I'm a horrible person, because I really really want to know what show his wife watches that he doesn't like.

Matt McCabe seems like the only credible witness to events so far. I caught a portion of his testmoney while driving between meetings today. Seemed like a stand up easy going regular family guy - very forthcoming.
I am not a tv person but I imagine he probably is not a fan of the "Chick" shows like Long Island Medium or the Kardashian type things - but yes it would be interesting to know what JJ 's guilty tv pleasure is

I believe so. I think one of those people though had conflicting testimony with someone else who was in the same vehicle, so who knows.

I feel dumb. I didn't hear them say KR was seen backing up.

I heard the testimony as:
1) car pulled up and stopped (near driveway)
2) continued in the same direction and stopped
3) continued in the same direction again and stopped (near bushes/electrical box)

In addition to MS it is common knowledge from multiple MSM sources that she also has a brain tumor and colitis.
Regular life is stressful enough - she has been in a pressure cooker since John's death.
She is a smart woman who is active in her own defense - thankfully for her. Because look at the evidence they have
that she murdered John with the car - its still CRICKETS. What, she is not demure or defferential enough? Welcome to Massachusetts where women stand up for themselves.
I sense a lot of emotion mixed with pure distain at this woman. Bullying her comes from no logical place and is based on nothing to do with the case. Its just mean spirited, kind of like Proctor searching Karen's phone for nudes and calling her the c word... it's beyond distasteful IMO

I really like your post. I'm not one to speak about health issues on a public forum, but here goes.
It is shameful to have brought this (no evidence) case to trial.

If there's solid evidence to convict, that's different! There is none. imo, someone with serious (chronic) health issues doesn't need this crap. The stress alone is a death sentence.

all is my opinion only. Not giving her a pass no matter what the situation is - a criminal needs to be held accountable, but, there's no proof! Tax dollars wasting away. There is no evidence here. my opinion.

I heard the same, nothing about KR backing up. Matt Mc today said he noticed a wave like tire marks at the last point I believe, KR's SUV was. Last time he looked, wondering where they were, he said the SUV was gone. That description of the wave like mark was not followed up. I so wish it was, better description using drawing of it and WHERE it actually was, like did she pull out then in again, then pull out again. I don't know if he noticed that from the window or when he was driving past on his way to drop off the girls. I think it was as he was asked about driving.

I don't know if HIGGINS was on the stand yet. If he was, he'd of been asked and timelined of arrival and if he saw KR's suv/John. I'm very all over Higgins if he was in the jeep when KR arrived or in the house. A lot of people would have to vouch he was if he wasn't or say I don't remember or know. MATT MC would know and say I believe, the way he spoke today seems he just tells the truth as knows it's smarter to do. Let's see though as time goes on and the asking about his wife as it stopped today when he said he woke up to screaming in the bedroom. UGHGHGG.

Matthew McCabe is now on the stand in the #KarenRead murder trial.

He is the husband of Jennifer McCabe and has 4 daughters. His oldest daughter is Alli McCabe.


He said on the evening of January 28, 2022, he had met basketball parents at the Canton Junction Pub before his daughter's basketball game.


After the game, he said he dropped two daughters off at home and then to the Waterfall bar in Canton.


McCabe said he met John O'Keefe when he started being the caretaker for his niece and nephew.


McCabe said he met Karen Read in the summer of 2020. He said John reached out to Jen McCabe and asked if he could come by the house with the kids to swim in the pool and introduce Karen to Jen. He said both Karen and Jen have MS and could find come interest in that.


McCabe said he would see Read at sporting events and there were a couple other times she came by the house.


McCabe said when O'Keefe and Read came in the Waterfall, they went right up to him and Jen.

Lally is asking if McCabe remembers what John was wearing and if he had any injuries on him. He said he can only remember he had a baseball cap on but no injuries. He said John was drinking a Bud Light.


AL asking about John and Karen that night: "Was there any sort of fighting or arguing that you observed over the course of the evening at the Waterfall?"MM: "No, I did not.”


McCabe said when they were leaving, Brian and Nicole Albert welcomed people back to their house for a celebratory drink for Brian Albert Jr.'s birthday.


McCabe said Jen got a text from John when they were leaving the Waterfall that asked "where to?" and McCabe told him just to call. McCabe said "somehow, I don't know why, they didn't know where the house was.”


McCabe said he got to the Albert's house around 12:20AM and left around 1:45AM. "Everybody was hanging out.”


McCabe said he never saw Colin Albert or his daughter Alli McCabe at 34 Fairview Road.

AL: "Did you see anyone go upstairs, go downstairs, to the basement..." MM: "I did not see anybody.”


MM speaking about Julie Nagel: "When she went outside, her or somebody referenced that there was another vehicle out front."..."Upon hearing that we just assumed it was John and Karen.”


AL: "When you looked out, what if anything did you see?MM: "I noticed the SUV parked in front of the house.”"


MM: "I looked out again because it had been a few minutes, two three four minutes... I looked out and saw the SUV again. The SUV had moved up the road." He said it was more in sync with where the utility box, flagpole was.


MM: "Just looking out, like what the hell are they doing? and going back to my seat."On the third time he looked out the window, MM said the SUV had gone even further up the road maybe 30 or 40 feet.


Speaking on tire marks in the snow, MM said: "There was a weird wave in the road, you could see the tire marks." He did not see if the SUV made those tire marks.


MM said he never saw anyone outside of the SUV and couldn't see who was inside.


MM said they were driving Sarah Levinson and Julie Nagel home. "I back out of the driveway and proceed up towards Chapman Street."




AL: "Fair to say you didn't see anything in the yard?"MM: "That's correct.”


Lally now turning the attention to the morning of January 29th, 2022. MM: "I woke up to screams in my bedroom.”


Judge is told this is a good place to break. Jurors are dismissed until tomorrow. The trial will resume in the morning with Matthew McCabe back on the stand and more questions from Lally.

I knowwwwwww but I was 'forgetting' I did notice 'towards the end' of the nervous facial movements, shifting. I was watching for any of that, allowing for any expected nervousness due to the whole situation. I'm so looking forward to the rest of his testimony regarding wife the next morning and what he says/thinks of her involvement with the search for that too.

I'm assuming because it speaks to how KR socialized within JO's friend group- she bonded with another woman over her MS diagnosis. Maybe it will come up again later?
I wonder if they will go into detail about medical hurdles KR faced while helping raise her boyfriend's kids? That's my pure speculation, though. She ensured both kids had finances arranged for their future security, and may have set up savings accounts for them. KR may have included the kids as beneficiaries while making end-of-life plans so her health may be a factor.

Next up is Julie Nagel. She has previously stated to law enforcement that she saw something on the lawn of 34 Fairview Rd.



Nagel was also at 34 Fairview for Brian Albert Jr.'s birthday party. The McCabe's also drove her home at the end of the night



Nagel says she remembers Colin Albert being picked up at 34 Fairview around 11:45pm



Nagel says she saw a black suv outside 34 Fairview prior to her brother showing up to pick her up. She said it left before she exited. She said she decided to go home with McCabe's instead



Nagel says she saw the black SUV in three different spots ending up near the flagpole. Nagel says she never saw anyone get out of the vehicle. She says she saw it from the dining room window


Yannetti requests a sidebar as Nagel uses a laser pointer to show the 3 different spots she says she observed a black SUV outside of 34 Fairview.



Julie Nagel tells ADA Lally “I did notice something out of the ordinary like a black blob… near the flag pole”.


Nagel was in McCabe's car when she says she saw something on lawn. She says she mentioned it in the car.


Nagel confirms to Yannetti the first time she shared that with law enforcement (Trooper Proctor) was in October, 2022 - 8 months after JO's death.


DY: "you never saw that car back up?" Nagel: No


DY: If you had seen a person in the snow lying there you would have done something about it.

Matthew McCabe, who was present at the Canton, Massachusetts, home hours before John O'Keefe's body was found outside, was on the stand.

An FBI analysis of a phone belonging to Brian Albert’s sister-in-law, Jennifer McCabe, determined she searched “hos long to die in cold” at 2:27 am, hours before she called 911 to report that O’Keefe’s body had been found outside the Albert home, according to Jackson.

“The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation also specifically confirms that that search was made on Jennifer McCabe’s phone, and it was made on or before 2:27 (am)… That fact, Your Honor, is no longer open for debate. And none of that was presented before the (state) grand jury,” Jackson explained.

The defense first brought up McCabe’s Google search in April 2023 and this is the first time a law enforcement agency has corroborated the findings.
