The Jennings Daily News now says they've confirmed a search warrant was issued to a Spencer Street residence on Monday in connection with Laconia "Muggy" Brown's murder.

City police and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Forensic Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a Spencer Street residence Monday, and the Jennings Daily News has since confirmed through anonymous sources that the investigation is related to the 2008 Laconia “Muggy” Brown murder case.
Police were spotted at the Spencer Street residence from approximately 8:30-10 p.m. Monday. No arrests have been made as of press time today, and police are tight-lipped about what the search revealed, if anything.

Lake Charles station KPLC’s attorney told the 31st Judicial District Court that it is no longer in possession of unedited documentary footage that was being sought by law enforcement.

Their killings have gained national notoriety, often portrayed as the work of a serial killer. But police documents obtained by WWL-TV suggest a very different – and potentially more sinister – theory: that police somehow were involved in the killings.
Rumors of law enforcement involvement in the killings are not new.
A wide range of circumstances have fueled the rumors that police have blood on their hands, whether with a direct hand in the violence or by covering up the horrible acts of others.
The speculation starts with one basic fact shared by the victims. Each of the murders remains unsolved.

Unedited video released from 2009 special report on Jeff Davis murders

Investigators in Jeff Davis Parish continue to look for leads in eight unsolved murders between 2006 and 2009, and they believe unaired video from KPLC-TV may help them. Until recently, that video was thought to be lost forever.

More than four years after a special report aired on KPLC-TV profiling the murders, Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney Michael Cassidy asked a court to order the station to hand over raw video from the interviews of Tracee Chaisson and Frankie Richard.

Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a ditch across from the Lake Arthur water tower Friday afternoon. Few details were available late Friday. Lake Arthur Police Chief Cheryl Vincent said the body of the white female was discovered around 3 p.m.

“A lady was walking the levee right there, which is called the ‘tracks,’ and thought they had seen a dead body in the little ditch area right there,” Vincent said. “They had a body in the water, laying face down.”

Vincent said police had identified the victim, but were not releasing a name, pending notification of family members.

Lake Arthur Police Chief Cheryl Vincent says the body of a woman found in Lake Arthur has been identified as 27-year-old Lacie Fontenot.

Sheriff Ivy Woods tells The Advertiser that the death does not appear related to eight killings in and around Jennings from 2005 through 2009...

Vincent says investigators are waiting for the coroner's report to get more details on how she died.
