NYPD refusing to release photos.

But hundreds more photos have yet to be released - because the New York Police Department refuses to make them public.

Former Huntington Beach detective Steve Mack is baffled by the NYPD's resistance to releasing the photos, according to the New York Daily News.


"They should be released. There are people who will identify their missing loved ones," Mack told the paper Monday.

She saw her photo on the NY Daily News site.
The two photos the Daily News included in the article about her recognizing herself, one current and one old black & white one, are BOTH photos she sent them. Alcala did not take the black & white photo.

Judy Cole cleared up some of the confusion about which photo is her.
It is photo #196 on the NY Daily News site.

However, if you read the caption below that photo it says;
"One of 215 images of individuals believed to have been photographed by serial killer Rodney Alcala, who is in prison in California for a series of murders there between 1971 and 1979 (Read more here). Police request that anyone with information about any of the pictures should call (800) 577-TIPS and reference: Picture 169."

196 is the # the New York Daily News used in their slideshow but 169 is the reference # for the police.

I stumbled across this article which talks about Alice Feiring as not being in the photos.

Right, this says the same:

Manhattan wine critic Alice Feiring did not see herself in the newly released portraits, but she told cops she had a close call with the killer when she was just 13.

Feiring said Alcala persuaded her to go to his East Village apartment in 1968 and then locked her inside. She said she managed to escape.

"I just thought he was a pervert," Feiring said.
