The lawyer in George Zimmerman’s defamation suit is vowing to appeal the ruling of a Florida judge who yesterday tossed the litigation from her courtroom.

“We obviously disagree with the judge,” says James Beasley, Zimmerman’s Philadelphia-based attorney. “We understand she has her position and we respect it, but we obviously disagree.” An appeal is coming. Nelson is the same judge who presided over Zimmerman’s 2013 criminal trial, in which he was acquitted of second-degree murder.

"ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — George Zimmerman has filed a notice to appeal the dismissal of his defamation lawsuit against NBC Universal and three reporters.

The appeal notice was filed Tuesday with the Seminole County Clerk of Courts. Judge Debra Nelson on June 30 dismissed Zimmerman's lawsuit, saying the former neighborhood watch leader had failed to show the network acted with malice."

Former neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman is back on patrol -- and this time it's at a gun store.
Police found Zimmerman sitting in his dark colored truck outside of Pompano Pat's, a store that sells firearms and motorcycles, just after midnight on Sunday, according to a DeLand, Florida police report. <snip>

According to the report, Zimmerman told officers that Johnson had asked him to leave his dog inside the business, however Zimmerman decided he and his dog would wait in the parking lot.
He also told officers that "he was going to be around the business at night for an indeterminate amount of time," the report said.
Sam Porter, an employee of Pompano Pat's, told ABC News today that Zimmerman is not an employee and is not being paid to patrol the business.” more at link: http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-florida-gun-shop/story?id=24758418

Police: Acquitted killer was there 'as a friend'

"George Zimmerman, the man who shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford in February 2012, was in DeLand over the weekend, providing security for Pompano Pat's on South Woodland Boulevard, the DeLand Police Department said.

And reports of his presence prompted threats of violence against the business and its owner, a store employee said.

Pompano Pat's, which sells guns and motorcycles, is owned by DeLand mayoral candidate Pat Johnson. Johnson is challenging incumbent Mayor Bob Apgar in the Aug. 26 election.

Three hours after the story broke online, Pompano Pat's issued a press release denying that Johnson knew anything about Zimmerman being at Pompano Pat's.

"The reports and allegations are nothing more than a negative political campaign stunt," Tim Franklin, Pompano Pat's media-relations manager, wrote in the statement.

But the DeLand Police Department said it was, indeed, George Zimmerman on the property at about 1 a.m. Sunday morning, July 27.

"We ran into Mr. Zimmerman over the weekend," Sgt. Chris Estes told The Beacon."
