5 men charged in slayings of 2 Michigan women

My question is did these 5 men commit these murders and try to copycat the other murders? Or were they somehow involved in the other murders too?

And I do have a comment on the men. It was two young women. And 5 men involved in the murders somehow. 5 men/2 women. They must have been very powerful women.

DETROIT (AP) — Two men were held for questioning Tuesday as part of an investigation into the slayings of four Detroit women whose bodies were found in car trunks after three of them placed online escort ads, police said.

The men, ages 32 and 24, were arrested Tuesday morning by members of a federal and local law enforcement task force in Sterling Heights, a mostly middle-class community north of Detroit. They had not been charged by late afternoon, Detroit police Sgt. Eren Stephens said. Police also searched a Sterling Heights home.

“We see a direct link between them and the girls,” he said, declining to go into specifics.

DETROIT (AP) — ............

Police Chief Ralph Godbee described James Brown as the "main culprit," but Brown was not charged with killing the women. The Sterling Heights man was arraigned on charges of moving the bodies and arson, and bond was set at $1 million.............

Godbee suggested that the only barrier to murder charges is deciding where to file them. He believes the women were not killed in Detroit and possibly not in Wayne County. The Wayne County prosecutor's office handles crimes committed in Detroit..........

"We're not anybody's dumping ground for homicides. ... We feel very confident that we've closed this case," Godbee said at a news conference.

It is good to see that there is movement on the case. But they still haven't charged anyone with murder. From the way they are talking, it feels like there is something going on in the background, but I am not sure what.

I can't believe they gave him bond, even if it was a high bond.

Brown has finally been charged with murder, and has pleaded not guilty.
According to his lawyer, he may have incriminated himself during a videotaped interview with police earlier this year.

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — A jury Friday convicted a Detroit-area man of killing four women who went to his home after connecting through online escort ads.

Police said James Brown killed the women in pairs, just days apart, at his Sterling Heights home in December 2011. The bodies were stuffed in car trunks and left miles away in a Detroit neighborhood. Two were burned beyond recognition.
