GUILTY MI - Jane Bashara, 56, dies in contract killing, Grosse Pointe Park, 25 Jan 2012 #6

It must not be Bob's day to shower and shave. He looked terrible, and his face had red blotches. Has he been sick again?

I just love Judge Vonda Evans. She is sharp, and was not manipulated in the least by Master Bob. Even Joe Gentz outsmarted him. I would say he has definitely been demoted.

WDIV live stream showed close-ups of Bob's pus-filled pimples several times during today's proceedings  Where's the eye bleach when you need it?

BB's not a well man. He looked especially haggard today, more than likely due to the stress of learning his fate from Judge Evans. Of course, he'll appeal, so we haven't heard the last from Master Bob. With his ego, I wouldn't be surprised if Bob takes his case all the way to the SCOTUS.

Covered by Crime News Daily with an interview from Bob.

And the saga continues... Loved hearing from Judge Vonda again.

Former teacher writes book about Bashara murder case

George Hunter, The Detroit News 5:56 p.m. ET March 20, 2017

Andrew Morlan was on vacation in Puerto Rico five years ago when he said he struck up a conversation with a man wearing a Detroit Tigers hat. When the stranger found out Morlan was from Metro Detroit, the first question he asked was: “What’s new in the Bashara case?”

It was February 2012. Jane Bashara had been killed only weeks earlier, and the case was starting to make national headlines when Morlan, a former high school social studies teacher and lifelong Grosse Pointe resident, had the encounter with the man in the Tigers hat. “That’s when I realized how big the case really was,” Morlan said...

Bashara’s bid for new trial rejected by appeals court

Convicted murderer and former Grosse Pointe Park businessman Bob Bashara insists he did not get a fair trial because the media smeared him and his lawyers didn’t properly defend him.

The Michigan Court of Appeals disagreed Thursday, denying his appeal...

Prosecutors alleged Bashara killed his wife so he could immerse himself in the bondage, discipline and sadmasochistic lifestyle. He planned to move into a house with two submissive women serving him.

The appellate court said in its 34-page ruling: “In considering the chronology of the events giving rise to Jane’s death, it is clear that the jury reached the correct result.” ...

New book by Detroit News reporter details grisly murder

Tragically, the 2012 killing of Grosse Pointe resident Jane Bashara had everything a great true-crime book needs — and more.

The murder-for-hire engineered by husband Bob Bashara was lurid enough. But add in details of Bob’s secret life, replete with tales of S&M bondage and discipline, and the case summons up a tableau of moral corruption in one of America’s fabled suburbs.

Detroit News crime reporter George Hunter and wife Lynn Rosenthal explore this local tragedy in depth in their new book, “The Sadist, The Hitman and the Murder of Jane Bashara” (Exposit, $19.99).

“A guy wants to kill his rich wife to set up a harem with slave girls to serve him?” asked Hunter, a 23-year veteran at The News. “How’s that not going to be a story?” ...

State high court denies Bashara appeal

A terse one-paragraph sentence released Wednesday by the Michigan Supreme Court effectively brings an end to one of the most publicized criminal cases in Michigan history.

The state's highest court has declined to hear the appeal for a new trial by former Grosse Pointe Park businessman Bob Bashara, 60, who paid his developmentally disabled handyman Joseph Gentz to kill his wife Jane Bashara on Jan. 24, 2012...

Bashara turns to federal courts to try to get out of prison

Detroit — Bob Bashara was unable to get his murder conviction overturned in the state court system, so he's now turning to the federal courts.

Bashara's attorney, Ronald Ambrose, on Friday filed a petition in U.S. District Court in Detroit. The filing claims Ryan Correctional Facility Warden Lee McRoberts is unlawfully detaining the former Grosse Pointe Park businessman.

A writ of Habeas Corpus petition allows someone to report an illegal detention and ask the court to compel testimony from the jailer to determine if the imprisonment is legal. The filing is Bashara's only available legal recourse since all his state appeals to be released from the Detroit prison have been exhausted...
