Found Deceased MI- Justin Oaks, 29, Jaxon Oats, 6, Monroe Co, 29 March 2020

An aunt of Justin’s wife has posted on her FB that the boat was found in the Huron River. Just speculation at this time, no media confirmation that I can find. Search will continue tomorrow along the river. [you should find it if you do a search on FB for “Justin and Jaxon Oaks’’ and scroll through the list that comes up for the post made about an hour ago tonight.

That would make sense since it was reported earlier that LE is searching specific areas now. Not sounding good...

*****UPDATE*****

From the Oaks and McNett families:

Today, MSP surveyors found and confirmed the identity of Justin's boat. It was located in the Huron River. Therefore, the search will continue tomorrow along the river.
Please note: For Friday, 4/3, family members are requesting that volunteer boats stay off of the river to give the search teams the area they need, to continuing doing the great work they have provided so far. They are asking any early boaters planning to fish the Huron River in that area to please wait until after 8:30 am. The search team will be running the river and banks and need the river as undisturbed as possible.

The family is overwhelmingly grateful for all who have turned out to assist. Volunteers have been searching by land, water, and air, and they can't thank everyone enough for helping. Even noted by the MSP Marine group, Justin and Jaxon have touched so many lives in such special ways, and it shows.

Many, many thanks for all who have provided food, drinks, cookies, and especially the porta johns, to help sustain the families, searchers, and volunteers these last few days. The response has been a welcomed sight during this difficult time. Special thanks to the local VFW, Farmer's Café, the Rockwood Police Department, and other individuals who have provide food and other supplies. And a very special thanks to the Hulls Trace Marina party store for their generosity and to the Michigan State Troopers for caring so much and working so diligently.

For those wishing to contribute, the family mentioned that water and drinks for the searchers would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the Hulls Trace Boat Ramp, 36021-36453 W Jefferson, Brownstown Twp. Thank you!!!!

Please continue to keep these families and MSP in your thoughts and prayers.

Blessings

(For those of you who are asking, my husband is Chelsie's mom's brother. Chelsie is our beloved niece, and Jaxon our wonderful great nephew.)

So sorry! Are you from the same area? What have the weather conditions been like? Just hoping somehow they made it to shore & have made some sort of insulated shelter.
I live about 7 or 8 miles from that spot on the river, have lived in this general area all my life. It was very mild that day but windy and it really picked up in the afternoon. That was our one day of warmth before it got chilly again, but the wind was pretty intense after 2/3ish, it knocked over some lawn furniture in our yard

******UPDATE***** 4/4/20 7:20 am

MSP has called off the search, as they did not find anything on Friday.

The boat was found underwater on Thursday along the Huron River, northwest of the Hulls Trace boat ramp on W. Jefferson, just before the split in the river.

The family has reached out to Great Lakes Search and Recovery, a charitable organization, who will be starting their own search around noon Saturday.

If any boaters or fishers come across any items that may surface, please take to Hills Trace or private message me.

We appreciate all the love and support we have received thus far.

April 2 at 2:23 PM ·
Great Lakes Search And Recovery was contacted by the family on Wednesday and asked to assist in this search. We contacted the MSP Trooper in command and offered to take our boat and sonar unit over. This morning the family informed us that today might be the last day for MSP to search so we pulled our gear together and were planning to head over early this afternoon. While completing some last minute details the family called a second time today and told us that MSP had located and recovered the boat and were now going to extend their search time. We remain on stand-by, loaded and ready to respond and continue the search should the MSP not be able to locate both family members. We continue to offer our thoughts and prayers to the family at this difficult time and are waiting for MSP to tell us what we can do to help.
