Found Safe MI - Montana Alexander & Matthew Jace Bridges, twin infants, taken by 2 females in black Grand Jeep Cherokee, Livonia, 21 Aug 2023 *arrest*

I'm happy that the babies were found and are safe, but I have a feeling that there is much more to learn regarding who the two women are and why they took the babies. Where were the boys during the overnight hours, and who dropped them off at a DPD precinct at 9:30 this morning? There wasn't much of an update on the WDIV news at noon, but they will be reporting on the case during later newscasts.

I'm gonna guess a couple of aunties got together and unilaterally decided that mom wasn't the right person to have custody. Betting this will end up being family drama.

DETROIT – An Amber Alert was issued for two 14-day-old babies on Monday when their mother left them with “friendly acquaintances” at a Livonia hotel and came back to find them missing, police said.

Amber Alert

Livonia police Cpt. Gregory Yon said officials received a call around 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, from a woman whose children were missing from a hotel.

“The lady left them with two friends, and when she came back, they were gone,” Yon said. “They were friendly acquaintances.”

The boys are 14 days old. Michigan State Police, FBI agents, and officers from Livonia and Detroit began to investigate their disappearance.

“I can say it was reported as an abduction, and that’s how we took it, and that’s how we’re treating it at this point, as an abduction,” Yon said...

Per 4:00PM WDIV newscast, two people are in custody, and the twin boys were released from the hospital to their parents. Reporter Shawn Ley interviewed the father of the babies that will be featured in a later report.

LE is referring to the two women who took the babies as "friendly acquaintances", whatever that means.

A man and woman were taken into custody by Livonia police Monday in connection with the abduction of a set of 14-day-old twins.

The mother reportedly had left the newborns in their hotel room with acquaintances while she stepped out for a moment.

Roughly 12 hours later, police said the twins were dropped off at the front desk of the 9th Precinct of the Detroit Police Department. The man and women were arrested by Livonia police about two hours later.

From the same article (although it looks like it has been updated), "The twins’ father, Calvin Bridges, said people reached out to the mother on Facebook and offered to help with gift cards and diaper wipes. After another offer of help was made and two women reportedly came to the hotel and took the twins, sparking the Amber Alert."

I watched an interview with the father earlier today. He shared the same information, but also said that they were staying in the hotel after their house had been broken into. Seems like a very strange sequence of events, IMO. I'm just happy that the babies are safe and the parents have them back.

A day after an early morning Amber Alert for two twin newborns shook up metro Detroiters, law enforcement officials offered few new details about what had happened Sunday night and Monday morning — and what its investigation had uncovered.

Tuesday evening, Livonia police released a three-sentence statement, that said it was continuing to investigate and had "made four arrests related to the kidnapping of Montana and Matthew Bridges," and the case is being submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor.

Neither the suspects nor the charges were identified.

The prosecutor's office told the Free Press late Tuesday it had not received a warrant request.

Four people have been arrested and are expected to face charges in connection with the kidnapping Sunday of 14-day-old infants.

The abduction triggered an Amber Alert before the babies turned up the next day in Detroit unharmed, Livonia police announced Tuesday.

"The Livonia Police Department has made four arrests related to the kidnapping of Montana and Matthew Bridges, who were the subject of an Amber Alert on August 21, 2023," the brief Livonia statement said. "This case will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review."...

Arrests in Livonia newborn abduction include 3 teens

"According to authorities, the four arrested were a 23-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man. Police said the teens were found at a Detroit home and arrested. The woman was taken into custody earlier in the day.

Police confirmed the four are not related to the victim’s family."

Were the 23-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl the two people who are seen in the hotel surveillance video? I wonder what the goal of the abduction was. Were they going to sell the babies? I hope we get more details in the coming days.

(CBS DETROIT) - A day before 2-week-old twins Montana and Matthew Bridges went missing, Yvette McDonald says more than one person tried breaking into her son's home.

"They came to my son's house a day before they kidnapped the kids. They tried to break in through the window, the bathroom window, and the front window," McDonald says.

Around the same time, McDonald says the mother of her grandchildren was seeking assistance from a mom's Facebook group to help provide things like diapers, wipes, and other baby products for the twins.

"It all began when she went on Facebook," McDonald says. "She was just reaching out for a little help. They are supposed to help young ladies who just had babies with resources, gift cards, diapers, etc."

On Wednesday, McDonald told CBS News Detroit she believes the same people who got away after trying to rob her son are the same folks who kidnapped her grandchildren from the Quality Inn in Livonia.

"It was the same black Jeep that came to my son's house that took the kids," McDonald says.

McDonald also says the family received several text messages from the alleged kidnappers after the twins went missing. And while she was not able to share what they said, she does believe those texts were an attempt to try and cover kidnappers' tracks.
Family of 2-week-old twins in alleged abduction say suspects tried breaking in home days before Amber Alert

According to the father, the whole story started when their mother posted in a Black mom's Facebook group.

"She just trying to get help from some people acting like they’re social workers on Facebook," said the twins father. "Trying to help moms with newborns, get them a new place to stay and put them on their feet."

He told us that on Saturday, two women from the Facebook group said they were social workers and came to his house.

They told the twins' mother they would be back with diapers but according to dad, it was four people who came back later all in masks trying to break into his house.

He was able to diffuse the situation and then took their family to the Quality Inn on Plymouth Road in Livonia.

So maybe not aunties and family drama but maybe people who thought they knew better. Self appointed CPS types. Scary world we live in. Internet - blessing/curse?

A 23-year-old Detroit woman who is accused of befriending the mother of infant twins and kidnapping them with the help of two others, and possibly a third person, was charged Thursday with multiple felony counts, the Wayne County prosecutor said.

Shantell Jones, 23; Davion Chandler, 19; and Curtis Lee Slay, 18 — all of Detroit — were charged in connection with the abduction of the 2-week-old twins from a Quality Inn hotel in Livonia at about 10:10 p.m. Sunday, when the mother left the room, the Wayne County prosecutor's office said.

"It is hard to imagine a worse scenario for a new mother," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "These defendants engaged in a scheme to dupe the mother of these barely 2-week-old babies. They allegedly promised her some much-needed assistance to gain access to her children with the express intent on stealing them."

It was the second high-profile Amber Alert in Michigan this summer that resulted in arrests and charges.

Jones, the prosecutor said, had befriended the mother with the intention of taking them from their mother. She was aided, authorities allege by the two men who also are charged.

The three face several felony counts, including two counts of kidnapping and child enticement, two counts of unlawful imprisonment, one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and child enticement, and three counts of larceny in a building.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned Thursday in 16th District Court between 3 and 3:30 p.m.

The prosecutor's office said it also is reviewing a juvenile's case and will make a decision whether to charge next week.

What did this woman think she was going to do with the babies? pass them off as her own? Illegal adoption to some mystery parents? How did she convince the two adult males and a teenager to go along with a kidnapping of not one but two infants? I can't wait to see what this brain trust looks like

This is a good video from Click On Detroit about Thursday's court appearance that includes new information.

All three are being held without bond.

The first three charges have a possibility of life sentences.

Shantell Re-Azia Jones has a history of faking pregnancies. She wanted to be able to show her family and friends that she had produced twins.

When they broke into the parents' home, one of them was armed. The father of the twins fired shots in self-defense.
