Sheriff: 3 kids, 1 adult dead in northern Kent Co. SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Three children and a woman were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds a home in rural northern Kent County Monday afternoon, but authorities don't think that's where the children were shot. The Kent County Sheriff's Department said the kids were elementary school-aged and younger. "Very sad. Very, very sad," Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young said, speaking to reporters at the scene. "It's been very difficult for our investigators and I'm sure it is for the community as well." The sheriff would not provide further information about the victims' relationships to one another. She said her department was still confirming their identities. The agency should release names after autopsies are conducted. The sheriff's office said its search of the property indicated there's a second crime scene where at least some of the shootings may have happened, but they don't know where that scene is. LaJoye-Young said there was no threat to the public and that authorities did not believe a shooter was on the loose. She stopped short of confirming the case was a murder-suicide, saying it was too early in the investigation to make that determination.
