Sheriff: 3 kids, 1 adult dead in northern Kent Co.

SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Three children and a woman were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds a home in rural northern Kent County Monday afternoon, but authorities don't think that's where the children were shot.
The Kent County Sheriff's Department said the kids were elementary school-aged and younger.

"Very sad. Very, very sad," Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young said, speaking to reporters at the scene. "It's been very difficult for our investigators and I'm sure it is for the community as well."
The sheriff would not provide further information about the victims' relationships to one another. She said her department was still confirming their identities. The agency should release names after autopsies are conducted.

The sheriff's office said its search of the property indicated there's a second crime scene where at least some of the shootings may have happened, but they don't know where that scene is.
LaJoye-Young said there was no threat to the public and that authorities did not believe a shooter was on the loose. She stopped short of confirming the case was a murder-suicide, saying it was too early in the investigation to make that determination.

    From the first article:

"Officials said the search of the scene indicated there was a second crime scene where at least some of the shootings may have happened."

"Officials also said they do not believe there is a threat to the public. No arrests have been made."

    From the second article:

"A firearm was discovered at the scene, said the Sheriff's Office."

"Investigat(ors) are contacting neighbors to see if any had surveillance cameras pointed toward the road. They hope to use the footage to track traffic in the area."

Awful sadness. Sounds like they are not confirming murder-suicide, yet painting it to look that way.

I will just never understand how a mom could shoot 3 precious little babies like that. Three healthy, happy adorable little girls, shot and killed...? So devastating and inexplicable...:(

The woman who investigators say shot and killed her three children had a history of mental illness.

Evidence shows Moore shot and killed her three daughters, 8-year-old Kyrie Rodery, 6-year-old Cassidy Rodery, and 2-year-old Alaina Rau behind a building behind a home in the 300 block of 19 Mile Road.

Moore then put her children into a vehicle and drove them back to their home before taking her own life.

In a petition for mental health treatment filed Sept. 19 in Newaygo County, a social worker recommended Moore receive mental health treatment after she exhibited strange behavior. Moore was discharged on deferral status Sept. 28. It’s not clear if she sought treatment after her release.

Court docs: Mom had history of mental illness before murder-suicide

I have a second home just outside Newaygo county. The family court system is so backed up, I wonder if this got the attention it deserved.
    Just heartbreaking.

It was said she was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Why was she allowed to keep and look after these kids? Where is the father(s)? Grandparents? If diagnosed schizophrenia, you know there was red flags.

Who's gun was it? How did she get it?

It blows my mind that the owner of this gun holds 0 liability.
