'Miracle' as blaze that destroyed San Jose church leaves crucifix untouched

A fire that destroyed Holy Cross Parish church in San Jose, California, but left the large crucifix inside untouched is being called a miracle by Father Firmo Mantovani and his congregation. Despite the roof and spires being completely devastated, the cross was carried out unscathed Monday, after the 4-alarm fire Sunday.

They are determined that the church will be rebuilt.

The cause of the fire isn't known yet.

Neither do I. If the cross was protected, why not the whole church?
