The Winona Police Department announced the end of a large, organized search for a missing Minnesota mom on Saturday after more than 2,600 people spent the weekend canvassing surrounding counties.

The department said while they are not giving up on the investigation into the disappearance of 26-year-old Madeline Kingsbury, they were able to cover more ground at a faster pace due to the “incredible turnout” of volunteers.

Nothing was discovered or found during the organized search for Kingsbury, but law enforcement said it would continue to have agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on the ground in Winona as an investigation into her disappearance continues.

One thing I have not seen mentioned is any search of water - there being a lot of it in the vicinity that is reachable by plane in a few hours.

Wouldn't he have to file a flight plan?
That is my hope/expectation; doesn't mean it was done, if for example it is a case of good 'ol boys looking the other way.

Flight plans are only required to be filed if the weather minimums are below Visual Flight Rule (VFR) conditions. VFR flight plans can be filed, but are not required and are rarely filed.

About the only time a VFR flight plan is filed is if someone was going on a long cross county trip or for student training. The purpose of a VFR flight plan is if the plane didn't make it to the destination by a certain time, a search for the plane would then be initiated.

If flying in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) than Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) apply and a Instrument Flight Plan must be filled so Air Traffic Control (ATC) can provide traffic alerts and separation between other planes flying since the planes can not see each other.

They're asking for more security camera footage/tips of 'suspicious activity' happening until 4:30 pm on 4/1/23 - which, yes, is a huge expansion of time and location. From I-90, Highway 43 is 30 miles long end-to-end spanning Winona and Fillmore Counties.

I am wondering out loud what LE's theory is.

Gee, I wonder what happened....complete and total speculation follows.

from the article posted upthread: "Investigators said that the kid’s father claimed he used Kingsbury’s van and last saw her around 10 a.m. at her home. He said once he returned, she was gone."

I mean, all of that could be true and he is implicating himself, if you KWIM.
He used her van.
He last saw her at 10 am at her home.
Once he returned to the home, she was gone. (Because she'd been taken somewhere, in the van)

Nothing very specific, but there have been divers mentioned.

"There's been divers looking in the waters, people scouring the plains and trucking through the woods, law enforcement on ATVs and horses," Megan said.

She was only minutes from the water living in Winona. The Mississippi runs along there. Also in one of the police statements they said they were searching the water.

It's so frustrating: They have the hills, woods, fields, water, possible plane, lakes in area. Where is Maddi????

<modsnip - wrong case>

“She’s my best friend. She was really funny as a little kid. She liked to pick out her own clothes and they never matched. And she loved wearing dark red lipstick that was always on her teeth,” Megan described.

When Madeline became a mom, Megan says she grew “insurmountably.” She describes it as a whole new life for her sister.

“We love to bake, we love Harry Potter, and she loves Lord of the Rings. And we try to take trips together just the two of us for quality time.”

Agreed:

NOT CASTING ASPARAGUS ON ANYONE OR SLEUTHING ANYONE NOT NAMED AS POI OR SUSPECT:

Wouldn't it be nice to know what hubby claims to have been doing in the 'key hours' in question?

According to this reporter, LE said they will release new information about the case today.

Perhaps there has been some new developments in the case that will bring Maddi closer to home.
