ST. PAUL, Minn. - His life ended inside an abandoned railroad switching shed in Rosemount, a place where investigators found human remains but nothing that would give the man a name.

The unidentified man was discovered in fall of 2014, and in the year and a half that has passed a bevy of tests has failed to shed light on who he is. He is still only known as his case number, 2014-4917.

So for the first time, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office investigators enlisted the help of an FBI forensic anthropologist, hoping that a facial reconstruction based on the man's biological markers triggers a memory in someone who sees it, someone who can help bring the case to a close.

So true! I'm really interested in this case. I find it hard to believe that DNA is not available for Thies - he has a large number of living siblings!

DNA wasn't available in the 80's , and it's only recently that there has been a push to get DNA for old cold cases from the families. This push coincides , from what I understand , with a project of getting DNA samples from old John and Jane Doe burials pre DNA testing via exhumations.

David Thies was / is my brother. Thank you for keeping his case alive . Although it brought up so many feelings to hear from the police about the possibility of this being him , it felt so good to hear something , anything about him after all this time , that he wasn't totally forgotten .
