Gray (4) (missing Oct. 25, 2018, Jefferson City, found Oct. 30, 2018) – *Quatavia Lwoun Givens (26/now 27) (ex-gf of father) arrested & charged (10/31/18) & arraigned (11/8/18) with 1st degree child abuse resulting in death. Indicted (12/18/18) with felony abuse or neglect of a child. Indicted (10/29/19) with 2nd degree murder (no plea on this yet). Plead not guilty to 2 other charges. No bond changed (3/21/19) to $100K Cash ONLY bond. Bond reduced (9/30/19) to $5000 Cash or Surety Bond. Out on bond 9/30/19.
Trial was set to begin 7/13/20-cancelled due to COVID-19.

10/29/19 Update: Prosecutors updated the charges Friday against Quatavia Givens to involve second-degree murder. Givens next court date is scheduled for June 29, 2020 with the new trial starting July 13. According to court records, the trial is scheduled to last seven days. 6/29/20 Update: Trial for 7/13 thru 7/17 has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Next a resetting hearing on 7/28/20.
7/28/20 Update: Pretrial report reviewed. Defendant in compliance. Case continued to 9/22/20 at 1pm. Court is awaiting report of status of jury trials in Johnson County. 9/22/20 Update: Hearing Continued/Rescheduled. State by APA Loesch. Defendant by attorney Skarkey. Case set for Counsel Status Hearing on 12/22/20 at 1:00pm.

Phase 3 Criminal Law Day Instruction Order. Due to Phase 3 COVID status, attorneys are requested to appear via video. Attorneys present reduce the number of defendant's who can be admitted to the courtroom. Prosecutors will be present in the courtroom. Unless excused by a docket entry, ALL DEFENDANTS MUST present themselves at the courthouse or warrants will issue. If they are not admitted, they will be given a new court date. Defendants without counsel, those set for arraignment and those for probation cases will be admitted in accordance with occupancy limits and social distancing rules. All persons admitted to the courthouse must wear masks. WEBEX invitations will be issued on Tuesday morning. If you intend to enter a plea during this appearance, defense counsel is requested to advise Rachel.Owens@courts.mo.gov no later than Monday, April 12, 2021 at 1 pm so that the paperwork may be prepared. Pleas will be taken up at 3:00 pm. During the COVID restrictions, the Court will accept written waivers of arraignment, written misdemeanor pleas of guilty and felony guilty pleas resulting in probation from non-incarcerated defendants if 1) paperwork is prepared and signed in advance; and 2) felony defendants appear with counsel via video. Are you sure? I see an Order (4/12) that she doesn't have to appear at the court hearing (excused from proceedings) - but I don't see anything that says "dismissed" - ??

I mean - she has a 2nd murder charge against her - I would not think they would dismiss that charge - plus 1st degree child abuse resulting in death & felon abuse/neglect of child.

I'll come back in a few days - and see if there are any more updates to her case!
