Alyssa may or may not need to attend status hearing on Dec. 7th. P was chewing gum the whole time and looked mad. Jodibug says she has big dark bags under her eyes (poor woman). Alyssa made no eye contact with her family, looked straight ahead at judge the entire time. After she left, Alyssa's grandparents and mother were escorted out. Everyone else remained seated while they left.

Judge ordered a plea of not guilty on her behalf as Kurt Valentine did NOT return.

Wow. I wasn't going to say anything about his statements, but I don't think Mr. Valentine is going to get much benefit from his service here. No counsel at arraignment in this case is telling.

Mr Valentine was her juvie attorney. Once she was charged as an adult, he was free to go. Probably off to have a nice tall one as he earned it.

I think Jodibug said he was released from his duties at the hearing this morning. He was there just for her juvi status.

where do you find these court records? I look at case net but don't see how to see the court records. Thank you.

go to the case net website, Where it says "search for case in" change that drop box to COLE COUNTY!
The under last name type in Bustamante
Under first name type in Alyssa
then click FIND
And it will be the only case that pops up, click on the case number and it will take you to the docs.

what are your thoughts on what I bolded (ie, what is it telling you?)

Right, but he did not pick up where things left off. It was speculated that this would happen. If there were much of a case, he would be the best person to continue representation, at least for know. Personally, after hearing what the others had to say about the Juvenile system, I don't think it was prudent to play the "it will be a death sentence" card. That's all he had?

ILC certainly had a lot of inside information that turned out to be true

Well it at least tells me no one advised her to get another attorney. If that was known, why wasn't a PD there? Maybe they were, they are usually there at most law days for arraigments. Maybe there is a question of whether she will qualify. Either way, if I'm charged with a capital crime, my mouth would not open, the suit next to me would do the talking.

BBM
If she doesn't qualify for a PD and the GP REFUSE to pay for her an attorney then what?

Again, ILC said she would get a public defender. It doesn't look like the gps wanted to pay for Valentine for just the arraignment.

"Judge ordered a plea of not guilty on her behalf as Kurt Valentine did NOT return"

Why would a judge enter a plea for alyssa? Is that normal? TIA

JEFFERSON CITY — Alyssa Bustamante, the 15-year-old charged in the murder of 9 year-old Elizabeth Olten nearly a month ago in St. Martins, was certified as an adult today in a Cole County hearing. ...
During testimony, Bustamante — with pale skin and long brown bangs that hung over her eyes —sat shackled in an orange prison jumpsuit. She was described as an excellent student. It was also revealed that she attempted suicide in 2007 and had a history of cutting herself.
She has been on the anti-depressant Prozac since 2007, and after a 10-day stay at Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center after the suicide attempt, she was evaluated nearly daily on an outpatient basis.
