The poor man was just sitting in a chair at the front of the mosque, when the perp came along and slit his throat.
To think that someone so cold and brutal is still walking around, is horrifying, imo.

Horrible hate crime!

I usher at our church, now under COVID we open the doors once & leave 'em that way.
Mr. Laughing is a trustee, is often fixing things around the buildings.

We, and this gentleman, should be safe!

Police say recent Rexdale homicides could be connected - 680 NEWS
''Toronto Police say they’re investigating two fatal stabbings in the Rexdale area that may be connected.''

''Lead detective Hank Idsinga says if the two murders prove to be connected, investigators would be dealing with a serial killer.

“Both victims were stabbed and the incidents occurred within very close proximity of each other. In a nutshell, they are similar ethnicity’s,” Idsinga said.

“I don’t want to raise any fear or panic I just want people to be aware this is something that we’re looking at, the possibility that these are connected.”

Homicide detectives are asking public to be aware of surroundings and report suspicious behaviour.''

Funeral to be held today for mosque volunteer stabbed to death in Rexdale
''TORONTO -- A funeral will be held today for a man who was killed outside a Toronto mosque where he volunteered.

The International Muslim Organization of Toronto says it will honour Mohamed-Aslim Zafis, 58, who was stabbed to death Saturday evening''

''The mosque says the incident should not discourage congregants from attending service, despite the fear it has created in the community.

Zafis' funeral will take place following early-afternoon prayers at the mosque.''

Now two missing men, both visible minorities, in the same neighbourhood.
Police are concerned about their safety - though this may be because they are both elderly.

Hundreds of mourners honour man stabbed to death outside Toronto mosque - CityNews Toronto

''Zafis, 58, was remembered by friends and family at his funeral on Wednesday as a “kind, gentle soul” who, even on the day he was killed, handed out food to the hungry and worked to keep his fellow worshippers safe.

“He was an incredible man,” Zafis’s nephew, Zahir Zafis, said through tears.

“He never had any negative thoughts or words.”

Several hundred mourners gathered in the parking lot of the International Muslim Organization in Etobicoke to say goodbye to Zafis, just metres away from where he was stabbed to death on Saturday evening.''

''Imam Ayman Taher said he chatted with Zafis just minutes before the attack, when they discussed a local Syrian family who had just lost a child. Zafis had prepared food for the family, he told Taher, to help them through the difficult time.

Giving food was important Zafis, his friends said. He spent years volunteering at a nearby food bank, preparing hampers for the hungry, and recently held a drive-through barbecue for children before they returned to school, Taher said.''

Glad to see an arrest. Hard to believe this kind of crap is happening in Canada. I wouldn't describe this country as safe anymore.

''Tens of thousands viewed online funeral for Zafis

Toronto Police Supt. Ron Taverner said at the same news conference that Zafis's family was notified of the arrest earlier Friday and are "obviously devastated" by his death.

"But I can tell you the support they've had from the Muslim community is amazing," said Taverner, adding the family told him more than 30,000 people viewed the online funeral Wednesday.''

Guilherme “William” Von Neutegem of Toronto,. charged with First-Degree Murder in the killing of Mosque caretaker Mohamed-Aslim Zafis Photo by Facebook

''The big question at the forefront now is who is Von Neutegem?

Social media posts over the past decade offer some clues with alternative thinking, mysticism, the occult and vast conspiracy theories being plentiful.

“There is death to the mortal to that which is immortal, only transformation,” is one example from 2018 the accused posted.

But there are many others which the police will go through.

Idsinga would not comment if he had any past run-ins with the law.''

''They have to do a deep-dive into Von Neutegem’s background and determine where he’s been in and what he has been up to.

“We have several addresses and vehicles to check out,” said Idsinga.

Another area they will check is his social media history, which appears vast and troubling.

One post from Oct. 2, 2012 stood out — saying “justice is not only the cause of evil actions but it rises from our (sic. Indifference), our ignorance, our lack of effort to make any significant change, to be the best we can be. The world is a reflection of what we are as individuals.”

Time will reveal who Von Neutegem as an individual.''

oh great he'll be out in no time like the guy who chopped someone's head off on a greyhound bus
Too crazy to know beheading a fellow passenger is wrong, but not so crazy to know to change his name, imo.

''In February 2017, Li received an absolute discharge and is now living independently in a Manitoba community. The province's Criminal Code Review Board ruled he is no longer required to attend annual reviews or abide by conditions. He later changed his name to Will Lee Baker.''
