ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — The vehicle of a missing North Carolina woman has been found but she remains missing, according to a news release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Amanda Jo Maske, 41, of Marshville, was reported missing yesterday afternoon after family members were unable to get in touch with her for several hours.

She reportedly left home yesterday morning and was driving to her job in Raeford.

Last night, family members found her car, a white 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, parked at Scotty’s Bait and Tackle in eastern Anson County.

The immediate area around the vehicle was searched but authorities did not find Maske.

Wednesday night, Maske’s vehicle - a white 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee - was found unoccupied at Scotty’s Bait and Tackle in eastern Anson County. Personal effects belonging to Maske were found inside.

Along with the belongings, officials said, evidence that led investigators back to the Pee Dee River area was also found inside the vehicle. What exactly that evidence was has not been made public.

Scotty’s has a good hamburger. It’s a known spot along Highway 74 and would be on her way to work.
I can’t imagine living in Marshville and driving to and from Raeford everyday.
Charlotte isn’t that far from Marshville - 30 miles or so.

The NC Sex offender registry has a man on the list very close to Scotty's. If she wasn't into fishing she may have had a car issue or was dropping off or picking up a hitchhiker at that location. Since you know the burger there, is this a pretty busy business?

She could have popped in to get something to eat or drink. Use the restroom? He has a grill and odds/ends - kind of a mini convenience store - locals frequent it.

I don’t remember it being super busy.

Highway 74 is a busy road
Heavy truck route. Beach traffic.

Maybe she was meeting somewhere there?

So, the assumption is she never made it to work. I wonder where she worked & what time she was supposed to be there? It appears she may have owned an assisted living facility in Marshville at one time.

Google says Scotty's doesn't open until 8 am each day. Is it a meet up type place where people park their cars & ride together, by chance?

That appears to be a bit of a trek to the river from Scotty's. There's a bingo place on the other side of the river that would have been closer to park at if the river is where she was going (willingly).

I wonder if there are transients in the wooded area?

Deputies believe a Union County woman that was reported missing Wednesday is “alive and safe.”

....SBM

Around 12:45 p.m. Friday, deputies said they met with members of Maske’s family who confirmed Maske made a phone call.

“Credible evidence suggests Maske left home voluntarily and is not a victim of foul play. However, this case remains open and active until law enforcement physically confirms her well being,” deputies posted.
