GUILTY NC - Judy Brown Brock, 71, Holden Beach, Brunswick County, 15 Mar 2019 *arrest*

Apparently no criminal history, at least not convictions in NC. Still working on a motive allegedly. I am truly wondering what happened in this case. First degree is probably not simply someone snapping suddenly with a loss of control but they feel it is premeditated. Financial? A new love interest, even at 71, not unheard of...? One wanted a divorce for whatever reason? Entirely speculative on my part--I just wonder why and how.

Another tragedy whatever the case may be with one dead and the other about to spend life behind bars due to his choice...

"Warrants show investigators were able to access Brock’s husband Phillip’s cell phone records. Initially, accessing his trucks GPS navigation system led police to where they say he disposed his wife’s body.

The warrants reveal Phillip searched online for escort services in South Carolina twice, once in late February and on March 11 days before he reported his wife missing."

Interesting in the video is that Phillip reported a 38 cal. snub nose with a "scrubbed off" serial number missing. I wonder when that pistol was reported missing.

“Brock explained to responding officers that he had went to Sampson County for work and tried to contact his wife about 0800 hours that morning but she did not respond,” a major with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office wrote in the probable case section of a warrant seeking permission to search the Brock’s Holden Beach home.

During the interview, Brock also said his wife was supposed to meet with a woman about a gala they were planning, but she did not show up. When he returned home that afternoon, Brock told investigators, he found his wife, her purse, Apple watch and rings missing, but no signs of forced entry.

Judy Brock’s phone, however, was still in the home, according to the warrant. An examination of her phone found that her last outgoing contact was a text to a member of her women’s club around 4:50 p.m. the day before she went missing. But several calls and texts the morning she went missing went unreturned.

[...]

“Investigators discovered a freshly disturbed area in the ground and tire tracks (on Wright Bridge Road),” the warrant states. “Investigators began to photo and process that area with shovels and discovered what appeared to be a shape consistent with a human body, wrapped in green in color cloth material, wrapped with silver/grey duct tape.”

[...]

Investigators seized a laundry list of items during their investigation, including duct tape, several guns and ammunition, a shovel found in Phillip Brock’s truck, gloves, blankets and clothing. A swab of a red and brown stain on a pair of denim overalls is also listed in the evidence inventory.

Judy Brock’s cause of death has not been released. Phillip Brock remains in the Brunswick County Detention Center without bond.

71 years old?! Those that are like this apparently never outgrow it... That is assuming he has never been faithful which I think the odds are likely in favor of... Disgusting. I have always wondered why such types get married. If they want to mess around, stay single, you are hurting no one that way. But nope.... My guess would be add financial to this... All his he thought it would be... OR she found out and was leaving...

Just my speculation and jmo.

One has to love modern technology like GPS. Forgive the following comment: I can make a good guess what brain he was thinking with... Based on the above info of escorts, GPS taking them to the location, trying to insinuate she had Alzheimer's or dementia when those who knew her knew better, a shovel, stains on overalls, etc., I would not call his plan brilliant...

ONDBEAT: Judy Brown Brock’s life and death touched many | BrunswickBeacon.com

It was supposed to be a festive occasion, and it was, but there was a somber tinge in the late March air, too.

When an estimated crowd of 300 converged in the banquet hall at 101 Stone Chimney Place in Supply last Saturday morning for the Holden Beach Women’s Club’s 11thAnnual Blooming for a Cause Charity Gala, a number of members wore different articles of black amid all the celebratory spring hues and ensembles.

That was intentional and a tribute. They were paying their respects to club president Judy Brown Brock, whose life came to an abrupt end just two weeks earlier.

In all seriousness though, who would think one would have to worry at 71 about being killed and your husband being into escorts.

This case has been entirely silent since it happened, she was found and he arrested other than her services and a mention or two of her by people who knew her. I keep checking for news but have found nothing.

I suspect given the age of the accused, the DA wants to be absolutely certain he isn’t suffering from something like a brain tumour. If so it’s a prudent move.

It could very well be, I have no idea. I also have no idea how such things affect a person, however, he did hide her body and both disable GPS on his phone and try to disable it on his vehicle.

It could also be that it just is not making news and no news is being released. It was not widely known when it actually happened quite honestly; when it made the news it did, one can see it here, 3 pages have not even resulted.

There was a hearing or so we think and nothing even found in the news about that. However, not all cases make headlines and it is not like there has been a trial or anything.

I just would think local news at least would cover it.

I guess I hate it when we have a murder victim and it is like it never happened and for whatever reason it just goes silent. I do not expect it in the news daily but one would think when there was a court event it would be at least in the area papers.

jmo though.
