Identified! NC - Orange Co, WhtFem 15-25, 558UFNC, pink sweatshirt w/bunnies, Sep'90 - Lisa Coburn Kesler

She does look very similar. And she does look older than 10 in her photos, at least in my opinion. BUT I do not think she would easily be mistaken for 15-25. If the UID was a young teen--ie. 12-15, then yes.

It isn't completely impossible though. It sounds as though there may have been a lot of instability going on in Kacey's life when she disappeared. I would be interested in knowing if her DLC is correct, and when someone else last saw her. She does sound much too small though to be the subject of this thread. We would need many things to be "wrong" for this to be Kacey.

:( both cases are just so heartbreaking. I would agree with others statements regarding the unlikelihood of this being Kacey, for all reasons already indicated, assuming what is stated in casefiles is correct. The thing is, sometimes they are not, so if you believe in this possibility, then I would encourage you to pursue it further. I do know there is DNA available and entered in the New Hope Jane Doe case. I also know that genetic genealogy techniques are being pursued in a quest for an answer, and I am very hopeful this will be "her year". I do not know the DNA status of Kasey. My thoughts are that given the information as provided, and her age, she may have not been considered, perhaps not even appearing on any official reporting because of the age difference. From a personal standpoint, I appreciate your attention to her case - I've been looking for Hope's given name for a very long time. Peace.

NamUs just added a few exclusions to this Jane Doe's rule out list. Total of 50 - some are listed twice.
Most recent is listed first.

Sometimes I find it useful to go back to the contemporary articles, since sometimes some of the details fall away over the years. This article, published in Sept. 1990 mentions some details I'd forgotten, specifically about her dental care.

This article, published in Sept. 1990 mentions some details I'd forgotten, specifically about her dental care.
At some point she had people who provided dental care for her. She had fillings on her 6-7 y/o molars. The cavities were on her 12-13 y/o molars; so something occurred in between those two timeframes such that dental care was no longer provided/sought. I was once told many years ago by an NCMEC expert that this was often seen in children in the foster care system, however many scenarios are possible. I will always look for answers for her.

Good info. Thanks for posting. I don't think either the truck stop, or the Ramada Inn mentioned at the start of this thread, are still around. It's described as the Archdale Truck Stop in Alamance which would be about 20 miles west of where she was found. NC Highway 62 intersects I-85 at two locations, one near Alamance and again near Archdale, another 30 miles to the west of Alamance. It's not clear which exit the Ramada Inn was at that she may have been seen near (it's described just as at NC 62 and I-85) but there's not one at either exit now.

For those not familiar with this area, the exit where she was found is off I-40. But just west of there, I-40 and I-85 join together for about 30 miles, then I-85 splits off toward Charlotte. Around 1990 I'm pretty sure there was a work zone with years-long construction projects and widening of the combined sections. But I don't think it extended as far as the I-40 New Hope exit.

ETA I guess the point I was trying to make is that I-40 exit might have been the first one past the construction area where there could have been witnesses around to see anyone stopping.

This MP seems like a good possibility based on stats: Cassandra Durham

Cassandra was 5'5 which is the highest estimated height for Hope. She weighed 110 pounds which falls in the middle of the weight range (105-115 pounds). Cassandra also had naturally brown hair.

Now I'm doubting Cassandra is Hope. I focused too much on stats that I forgot about Hope's distinctive teeth. I was looking at previous pages when I saw the dentals. Doesn't look like it's a match. I do want to add that I used a photo editing app to clear up the photo of Cassandra, so the retouched version might not be reliable.

I'd also wonder about Cassandra's tattoos.

I'm interested in the autopsy report and the mention of unerupted wisdom teeth. They took a lot of x-rays so I presume they took some of her jaw. Were they normal unerupted wisdom teeth or were they impacted wisdom teeth? That could give us a better indication of the Doe's age. Also the mention of the lingual tilting of the teeth. That can be the result of a type 2 malocclusion where your upper and lower teeth don't line up correctly. I wonder if there was any evidence of braces, at least recently. You are more likely to get cavities wearing braces since it's harder to keep your teeth clean, what with all the wires, etc.

I see several young women, children really who have been submitted as possibilities. I discount the 10 year old, basically because our Doe was wearing a size 34 bra. However, the jury is still out regarding the issue of early puberty being caused by hormones in our food but it's true that puberty especially in females has accelerated in the last 25 years. Here's a link:

Has it ever been established on what side of the highway she was found on? Eastbound or westbound? Even though she was found outside several days after her death, LE noticed how clean her socks were. That suggests to me, where ever she came from, she got dressed that day in clean clothes. She wasn't outside in the elements without a place to stay, or hitchhiking in muggy warm weather in mid September. The fact that her sweatshirt was around her neck rather than being worn also suggests she was probably murdered in a vehicle and dumped at the most opportune time.

Like many of the Does on WS, I wonder if this young woman was ever reported missing.

There are so many excellent observations.

I'm not sure I would 100% rule out a 10 year old wearing a size 34 bra. I was born in the early 70s, and had a few friends who were developed at that age. I think it would have been statistically possible enough not to have been an extreme outlier, but hope this sort of detail would have also been notable enough to have found its way into a missing person write up.
