Friday, Sept. 12th:
*Motion Hearing (@ 9:30am ET) – NC – Paitin Renee Fields (5) (Found the morning of Nov. 13, 2017, unresponsive in her own bedroom by her 19 yr. old uncle; she had been strangled & raped & died at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center on Nov. 16, 2017; she lived with her maternal grandmother) - *David Wesley Prevatte (19 @ time of crime/23/now 26) uncle arrested (2/16/22) & charged (2/16/22) with 1st degree murder, 1st degree statutory rape & 1st degree statutory sex offense with child by adult in the case. Prevatte was taken into custody by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana & is awaiting extradition. Was extradited 2/15/22 to NC. Held without bond. State will seek the DP. Pender County

3/15/24 Update: Next hearing on 4/12/24 for am session. 4/12/24 Update: Next hearing on 5/17/24 an AM session. 5/1/24 Docket updates: Motions hearing on 5/30/24 was continued to 6/28/24 & continued to 7/31/24 which was continued to 8/30/24, which was continued to 9/13/24.
1/29/25 Legacy complete case scan. 2/13/25 Motion to withdraw as counsel. 2/17/25 Counsel appointed-appointed attorney. 2/25/25 Update: Assigned of County by IDS Britt-Johnson. 2/28/25 Updates: Other/Miscellaneous. I believe this is the case that came about right after or at the same time as the Mariah Woods case. And I thought that one took.a long time to come to a resolution. I cannot believe this case is STILL going on! She was 5 at the time and would have been 13 now- 8 years!
