NC NC - Virginia Wood, Kelly Gaskins & Ervin Williams, Chocowinity, 2007

I went to high school with Ginni and Kelly, and know a lot about them as well as other people that they were close friends with. How can I also become Verified?

I did this, and they sent me an email back. I'm sure you could send them pics of ya'll from the yearbook:

"If you would like to add yourself as an expert in a certain field or as an insider to a case, please send an email to wsverify@yahoo.com Please note this is a new email address.

If you do not wish to be identified as an expert in a certain area, we ask that you refrain from answering questions that are specifically directed to those that have been verified as specialist in their area and that you do not claim to be a professional in any area.

If a member posts with "expertise" please check to make sure they are on this list. If not, please do not take their post as professional information, but rather just as another opinion; much as you would with any member of the general posting membership.

Locals who are describing the area or are members of the gyms and that sort of thing do not need to be verified.

We only verify people who know the players or have been named in the media, etc. This does not include people who may befriend a player on internet social media and then wish to post about it.

If a member wants to post as a professional (a lawyer, shrink, and so on) or as a local/knows the people involved then they must email us at the following email: wsverify@yahoo.com

Please include:

The case
Your Websleuths name
Your phone number and a good time to call
Your real name
Location (City and State)
In the subject line please put your user name and which case you are asking to be verified on

All info will be kept strictly confidential.

Thank you!"

So this happened today... One of my best friends, Jessica, happened to have the TV on, and Ginni's episode was on, so she group messaged me.

She watched the episode, and I'm not even mentioned in it even though they used my Mardi Gras pic... Im almost positive they interviewed me, but now it make sense why people thought she was having a hard time making friends.... They wanted to spin it that way.

Instead of telling the real truth that she had friends, and her new best friend had backed out the trip, they cut me out like I never existed.

Thank you for verifying me, so I have voice now.

Coming very late to this thread. I just saw the Disappeared episode (S04) focusing on this case. Extremely unfortunate & tragic.

Unfortunately, I do think all three are deceased - and that this possibly happened not long after Ginni (Virginia) Wood's mother last heard from her. Not sure what happened to them, but it could have been anything.

I think the subsequent "sightings" of Irvin in NC were red herrings. AFAIK There is no definitive info. proving that he had come back to NC after all three were last seen/heard from - i.e. there don't appear to be any pictures, surveillance footage from a camera, etc.

Though Kelly & Ervin sounded like they were going to Mexico to escape charges in the U.S., Ginni definitely had a life to come back to. She was doing well in college & had goals, etc. I don't see her dropping all of that to willingly live a difficult life in another country where she probably didn't even know the language - without ever contacting her mother/family again.

It sounds like Ginni's plan/intent was always just to drive to TX to see her friend for Spring Break...and that she was always planning on coming back to the U.S. in time to go back to school (after the break was over). She may have gone down to Mexico with Kelly & Irvin as a tourist, but I don't think she planned on staying that long.

Hopefully the truth will come out. However, given that these three probably vanished in another country & never came back to the U.S. - I suspect that closure is unlikely at this point - unfortunately.

I did not think about Ginny's car. According to what I read, her 2003 Nissan Sentra has never been recovered either. With all that driving, for anyone knows maybe her car broke down somewhere in Mexico?

The only place you can start in this case is at the grocery store in Metamoros, Mexico where the credit card was last used. But it sounds like Gilbert, the Houston attorney who helped in the case, thoroughly investigated that last known area.

There are so many unknowns in this case because you have no substantial information to go on. I think it could be a drug deal gone bad just as much as it could be three young people who found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person anywhere within a 1500 mile area between Metamoros and Cancun, Mexico. Hopefully someday there is some sort of closure in this case.
Yes that grocery store is key. Was it her using it even? If so it seems something happened right after.

To me the Cancun thing always seemed like a red herring, as did the Texas thing actually. My impression was that E and K were living in Mexico, possibly just across the border in Matamoros and G was going to go down to visit them (the timing with spring break) which is why she took the documents. Her mom would have worried so she just said Texas. There is sometimes a grain of truth in what people say and maybe she mentioned Cancun to friends as she knew she was going to Mexico and Cancun is seen as a more 'acceptable', common, touristy place that people visit on spring break. Or she did not want to say the actual location as she had promised K. They (E and K) were on the run so why would she (G) say the actual location to friends? Could be totally wrong about that.

If E's plan was to move to Mexico and sell drugs there without knowing anyone that is asinine and I can easily see how that would lead to someone disappearing, sadly. Personally I think something happened in Mexico and possibly within a few days and I think that is what a lot of people on this thread are saying.

We know G's mobile phone crossed the border and I believe that was her.

I noticed that on the phone records that the calls that originated from Monterrey were actually TO locations in North Carolina which I found interesting.

Controversially, I would actually look in Monterrey.

Possibly they went from Matamoros to Monterrey for some purpose and were carjacked or fell victim to foul play because of another reason.

There is nothing as far as I can tell to indicate they wanted to stay in Matamoros. We just know that they passed through/stopped there, which you would if you were travelling into Mexico. You would probably rest once you crossed the border and then move on.

I don't believe cell phone towers will be out by 365km but is there anyone here who is familiar with Mexican mobile phone data and what it would be like during that time period? I think they moved from Matamoros and that is the obvious place.

Just my thoughts.

K and E were living in Mexico when ginni went down there. If I remember correctly Kelly was working at a hotel as a housekeeper at least that what I remember her telling Ginni when she called. The orginal plan Ginni told me was we were taking a trip to go see her best friend and her bf and we were all going to Cancun. 18 year old me didn't realize how much driving that was going to be. This was in the days of printing out directions from map quest. She had shown me the map she was taking from NC to mexico before she left but didnt show me the address. After I backed out the plan was that I was supposed to mail her her stuff if she stayed longer. She took my camera and gave me her computer. I ended up giving the computer to her mother, but I dont think they ever found anything useful on it.

Robin Warder covered the case this week on TheTrailWentCold!!!

HOLY MOLY I cannot believe I am going to hear a podcaster I have listened to for years discussing my hometown and two girls I was in the same grade and grew up with.

I always listen to the weekly TrailWentCold when I am at the gym. When I listen tomorrow, I will give my two cents on the coverage.

WOW!!!

I'm mentioned in the podcast. It crushed me they made her seem like she was some friendless loser. in Disappeared. It was an injustice to portray her like that. She was valued. What college kids did not experiment and party? My point was to make it clear she had friends and a life.

I want to tell the podcast thank you for listening to me, and giving this cold case new light. I threw it all out there in hopes the information would help.
