Defendant’s failure to appear leads to arrest warrant
Grant Tribune Sentinel

An arrest warrant was issued for Scott R. Petro, 39, in Perkins County Court on Wednesday, April 28. The warrant was issued by Judge Edward D. Steenburg for failure to appear.

Petro was to appear on a $15,000 bond at 10 percent for arraignment on a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, which is a Class III Felony dating back to April 27, 2009.

Judge Edward D. Steenburg revoked the $15,000 bond, ordered a new arrest warrant for the defendant, and set a new bond at $50,000 with a 10 percent cash provision.

A new case against the defendant was also filed on April 21, which includes three new charges.

Once arrested and brought before the court, Petro will be arraigned on the first felony possession of a firearm which occurred April 5, 2009 as well as the new charges recently filed which include:

False imprisonment, first degree, a Class 3A Felony; assault in the third degree, a Class 1 Misdemeanor; and possession of a firearm by a felon, a Class III Felony.

Prosecuting the case are Perkins County Attorney Richard H. Roberts and Deputy Perkins County Attorney Joel W. Phillips with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol in the investigation.

Thanks so much cloud for posting this! I didn't know this information. It just goes to show what kind of a pathetic loser he really is and that he is nothing but trouble and that will never change! Gosh I hope they can get something together to bring him down for the rest of his pathetic life!!!

Monday is the 2 year anniversary since Corrie's brutal murder and still nothing has surfaced. Always keeping Corrie Jo Wood in my heart and mind.

Today it has been 2 years since Corrie was taken from so many people. Still there has been NO justice served. Something needs to happen!

I can't find any recent updates on SP's whereabouts.

I did however see the public notice below that was printed in the Grant Tribune Sentinel on June 24, 2010 (Page 13). I removed name/address/tel #. If he's not behind bars I hope he is homeless.

"Scott Petro, remove your belongings from the garage located at ___ Garfield in Grant on or prior to July 18th or they will be discarded. Contact ____ at ____."

Scott was recently arrested in AZ for warrants, not related to Corrie in anyway but at least he is in jail...again!

Makes me so sad to think SP will never be charged with Corrie's murder. But happy to see he's stupid enough to keep winding up behind bars. That may be the only justice Corrie ever gets.

In light of Corrie Wood's Birthday week beginning today, as well as the eight year anniversary of her murder coming up, I looked up Scott Petro's whereabouts. Fortunately, he is still locked up at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. However, it pains me to think that Corrie's daughter may never see justice for her mother's murder. May the cold case gods remember this crime right now and initiate some closure for Corrie's family.

Was there ever any more information on this case? I assume an arrest was never made?(I live in a neighboring town and never heard of an arrest) Did the case go cold? I can’t find IMDb hardly anything about the case after the December 2008 article. I see Scott is in prison on unrelated charges. Jyst curious why there is so little information out there about this. It’s not even listed on the Nebraska Crimestoppers cold cases.
