Concord couple's disappearance is concerning, say police – New Hampshire Union Leader
State and local police are asking for the public’s help to find a Concord couple last heard from on Monday.

Stephen L. Reid, 67, and his wife, Djeswende P. Reid, 66, spent Easter Sunday at a relative’s house in Concord, police said in a news release. Both had phone conversations with relatives or friends the following day.

But when Stephen Reid failed to arrive at a planned event on Wednesday, concerned relatives called police to report the couple missing.

The Reids are avid outdoor enthusiasts and often walk on the trails near their home, according to police.

Police said both household vehicles were parked in their usual spots.

“Their absence and lack of communication with family/friends is uncharacteristic and their disappearance is of significant concern,” police said in the release.

Police said both of their vehicles were parked in their usual places at their apartment, they have no known medical history or domestic violence, and are not known to own firearms. The couple often frequent the trails in the area, and consider themselves "avid outdoors people."

According to police, officers and K-9 have searched the entire area, including several trails around apartment complexes in the area. Concord police on bicycles were seen on Loudon Road, too, riding around and checking areas. Witnesses also reported seeing officers checking homes and apartments on Northeast Village Road.

I'm in Concord often. Lots of trails there. Hiked many and always felt safe. Concord has crime but not a lot of murders. That being said, I have no faith in the New Hampshire police
solving anything.

The Reids live in the Heights area of Concord, and a large police presence was seen at the Alton Woods apartment complex.

Concord police and fire conducted a search Thursday night on "Marsh Loop," a trail just off Portsmouth Street and just behind the Alton Woods Apartment Complex.

Investigators said the Reids had said they were going for a hike near where they live, but it's not clear where they were going. Their cars and personal belongings are all at their home.

This is horrible news. 2 children lost their parents in such a violent manner. I hope the police will be able to quickly apprehend and charge whoever is responsible for their murder.

I’m just at a loss as to what happened and why they were killed. It seems so random. And found shot to death in the woods? So it seems robbery is not a motive.

But then what? Did they have any enemies? Who would want them both killed?

Late yesterday the bodies of Wende and Stephen Reid found. Missed planned event on Wednesday and reported missing by family member.

Autopsies conducted today. Stephen and Wende multiple gunshot wounds. Homicide.

Timeline:

Reid's left house at 2:22 pm on Monday. Went for a walk at broken ground trails. Not seen after that.

Looking for anyone who saw them Monday afternoon.

Looking for security footage. Asking people to review their cameras, to include game cameras.

Looking for Reid's or anyone else spotted.
