Found Deceased NJ - Shanaya Coley, 24, Paterson, 5 Dec 2017

Paterson Police have assigned extra detectives to help find Shanaya. There was blood near the spot where her Nissan Altima was parked on Colonial Avenue. “There was blood in a couple of places, but we don’t know whose blood it was. Don’t know whose blood is in the grass and on the walkway,” her father said.

Willie Coley, her father, said a report that his daughter had a restraining order against a man is not true.

Something’s not right. On her “missing” Facebook page her mother is vehemently denying any restraining order was taken out. She’s saying that the media made it up.

That is her cousin

Parker and the two other suspects – Anthony Coley, 23, and Priscilla Boland, 28 — were charged with child endangerment as well as possession and intent to distribute the drugs.

Coley is the younger brother of a 24-year-old woman, Shanaya Coley, who was abducted outside her home in Paterson’s 1st Ward, in a different section of the city, on Dec. 5, sources confirmed.

Law enforcement officials declined to say whether they believe the brother’s alleged drug activity was connected in any way to the woman’s disappearance. Authorities have been looking for the woman for 10 days without success. Police have not said whether they believe she was targeted or taken at random.

I live in Chicago where there are a number of carjackings. Normally the drive is just pulled from the car, they are not assaulted and thrown into the vehicle/trunk. I don't believe this was a random carjacking. She was assaulted, one witness saying she was stabbed. It's likely connected to drug dealing in the family, I'm afraid. Police should check the long term parking at the nearest airport. That's the easiest place to leave a vehicle, even with a body inside, for a long period of time without anyone noticing. There are cameras here and there but it's pretty easy to pull a hat down and disguise your appearance as you drop it and walk to the terminal for a ride.

I just want people here to have a clear view of the town this happened in. Someone said they fell on "hard times" okay. Most bad neighborhoods do...that does not mean its not a bad area. The below incidents all happened very recently. Could any of the fires be tied to her disappearance? Could any of the men arrested have anything to do with her disappearance?

I dont know...but I do know that Im not exagerating the rate of crime and lack of safety there.

We can add Shanaya missing, her glasses left at the scene with blood and her car gone to this list.

Now you all can decide if you think Paterson is a safe place :gasp:

Worked in this town for 11 years. Except for the main business areas it is not a place you want to walk, even in daylight. Has some main streets with business that is OK in daytime. Many older beaten down and abandoned homes. I worked at a large facility and if it was after dark later at night didn't feel safe walking down the block to the other office building. And while I was there there 2 murders happened in surrounding streets late at night, including one an off duty cop.

Stabbed and thrown in the trunk...I don’t think she’s gonna make it home for any birthdays, unfortunately.

My daughter had a specialist who worked out of St. Joseph's Children's Hospital about 10 or so years ago before we transferred her to a specialist in NYC. We always drove into Paterson during the day, stayed with her whenever she was hospitalized overnight, and never felt threatened during our many trips driving through the city; we also used the parking garage at the hospital without issue.

I'm not saying Paterson isn't bad, just that there may be sections or various times of the day that the town may be worse than others.

I lived in New Brunswick and worked in Newark, I'm very familiar with inner city crime.

No updates since mid-December. :(

At this point, the car has probably been to a chop shop and the question remains...where is Shanaya?

That stuff happens all the time in my city but it's a large city. It's not known as unsafe. I guess it depends on the size.

The area that Shanaya was taken from is a housing complex surrounded by single family homes bordering Wayne and haledon. Not far from the famous NJ Housewives owned Brownstone restaurant and banquet hall. Not the worst area in all of Paterson.

Police still believe Shanaya was abducted from her home at the Brooks-Sloat Terrace complex in Paterson shortly before 11 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2017.

She was living there with her father, who said his daughter was headed to work at Eastern Christian Children's Retreat in Wyckoff on the day she went missing.

Police said two witnesses called that night after seeing two people argue and one of them stabbed.

Shanaya's 2013 Nissan Altima with tinted windows has not yet been found. No sightings have been confirmed. No witnesses have been announced.

Family and friends are also offering a $6,000 reward.

Car of missing Paterson woman, Shanaya Coley, found with body in back seat

PATERSON – An unattended car belonging to Shanaya Coley, the 24-year-old Paterson woman who police fear was abducted last December, was recovered Sunday morning with a body in its back seat, authorities announced.

Authorities said they have not yet identified the body that was found. Nor have they described the condition or contents of the vehicle.

A citizen notified police about the car being in the parking lot of a garden apartment complex on Marion Street at about 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, according to a press release issued in the afternoon by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald. The charcoal gray Nissan Altima was found less than a mile from where Coley was feared abducted on Dec. 5 in the Brooks-Sloat Terrace apartments.
