And so the State rests it's case. Now , the defence has to rig up it's case , which I have not quite understood what it is to be. At first, it began by digging Breanna into all sorts of holes, but if Braden is going to claim it's 'sepsis', then that knocks Breanna out of contention.
It seems to me that the Gregors, Mama, Gramps, Christopher, don't want that conclusion , they want to lay it all out on Breanna ... if not Breanna, then ok, they'll go for 'sepsis'...

Mad.

No doubt , should Christopher give testimony, someone will bring in a treadmill, and Chris can show how he himself mounts a moving treadmill at high speed and continues to run. Mario can catch him when he flies off it, his centre of gravity being much higher than Corey's, and Chris having the disadvantage of carrying extra poundage around his waist and upper arms and torso, affecting his trajectory when the treadmill hurls him off.

The first time, his legs will fly backwards and his head will hit the platform, due to his weight distribution, and before he can pick himself up, his face will be abraded by the moving platform. Physics and gravity kick in for everyone. The next time he tries it, his head will fly back first because of his attempt to lean forward while attempting to run, he might knock himself out at this point, requiring Mario and probably the uniformed cop to pick him up, Chris is a big unit,

The jury might be interested. . I know I would be.
Now that I want to see!

What are the chances that Gregor Sr physically abused the defendant while growing up? That kind of behavior is usually learned. JMO
as much chance as he saw Dad giving Mama a few nudges. Dad plays it cool but ... It is not an improbable scenario. What I think,, more likely , is Christopher is just your ordinary psycho, born that way, no cure, will die that way.

Retaliatory filicide is no new phenomenon. People murder their children for all sorts of reasons, it's not confined to any one culture, or nationality, or gender, although world numbers show more men do this than women, but women do do it, men are more inclined to wipe out the mother and the children, and more likely to wipe out all the children, whereas women tend towards murder suicide. Gregor Snr knows all this, he would have had cases like this during his career, he's seen it, heard it.

The retaliatory component of this , in my opinion, is based on Chris' call to CPS 'reporting on Breanna'...

The catch-all cry of fathers who do this is ' .. look what you made me do!'.....

NO. I just re-listened.
To me that sounds exactly like Lento (lead prosecutor) speaking since if is high volume and the microphone is very close to her, but I don't know what she was saying. She and Schron are smart enough not to say something like that in court.
It is indeed Lento’s voice. Thank you for clarifying

WHO notified Breanna that her son was dead?

In Breanna's video she posted to her own channel, at 14:00
"I get a knock on my door, and it's the cops...."

She says that LE came to her door to tell her that Corey had passed. Breanna had already called police because she didn't know where her child was after Christopher himself demanded the health insurance card (typical useless abuser dad*), and then refused her calls when she was wondering which emergency room he had gone to. This plus Christopher telling nurse Carnevale to not contact Breanna because she was "a drug addict".... that itself should be a crime. If 2 parents have legal custody like they did, Breanna has the right to have been there.

* been there, it's fascinating how my child's dad would say he DID EVERYTHING but couldn't ever name the pediatrician or dentist or optometrist. "OHKAY" a la Lento.

I appreciate that , it was something I could not pin down. .... Is it reasonable then, to presume that the cops were notified by the same cops Gramps called? ( that prompted Christopher to skedaddle out of that hospital and off to Tennessee without even a change of undies? )

Wouldn't surprise me, if, Christopher tried to finangle it out that he could murder Corey and get Breanna convicted for it , he'd be rid of the both of them .

It might have worked ,too.

Oh Troops, the visuals. The. Visuals. :p

We need laugh in the horrible case , thanks.

I liked the witness for today. I thought the infectious disease doctor was knowledgeable and able to explain the circumstances well in simple language. I believed her when she explained that the tests pre- mortem did not show any infection and that post-mortem tests would not be reliable as bacteria and cells would begin to change once the person died. It makes sense to me with how she explained it.

I do understand what defense was trying to do with cross, stating that the infectious disease doctor works with living patients and the FP’s work with deceased patients so FPs would be the expert regarding validity of testing after death, but the wording and approach was all so so wrong and the whole thing flubbed hard IMO

regretting picking him, he just comes across as a bully.

My take? David Gregor (grandpa)in his silver years comes across as a haughty well respected member of local society but I can't unsee him as a very angry person irl. I think Grandpa Gregor thinks Mario is doing an awesome job.

(Psssssst.... he's NOT!
But those checks will clear, so Mario goes home happy.)

Can anyone recall if in the litany of bruises Corey's pediatrician noted on him on April 1st visit included a bruise to his sternum described as being seen by ER docs on April 2nd as hospital staff disrobed him just prior to trying to save his life?

I heard testimony about their having noted bruising on his sternum the day he died just prior to resuscitation efforts (this is the bruising associated with the heart injury/tearing that the pros says was caused by Gregory and defense claims was from resuscitation attempts).

I can't recall with specificity if the pediatrician did not include that one in their list of bruises.

I believe that was the fatal injury and that it was dealt to Corey between his visit to Jersey Shore Medical late on April 1 and his final ER visit on the afternoon April 2. I further believe that bruising was not present on April 1.

But I am trying to find specific testimony/evidence that supports my belief.
During the Apr1 ER visit, the doctor testifies (7:23 mark) to numerous bruises on the head, chest and legs and stated the largest is a chest bruise approx 5cmx5cm. They refer to the sternum bruise as Bruise #3 later on (8:27) when going over the list of all the bruises.

Interesting. I had not considered the retaliatory aspect in this way. I have been under the impression that he felt forced to be a father and took out his anger on Corey. His rage would’ve been fueled by his father’s disappointment and perhaps disparagement of his actions. As I’m writing this, I’m realizing I HAD considered the retaliatory aspect. He blamed Breanna for all of this and Corey was a proxy for Breanna. She had ruined his life in his mind I’m sure. Ugh.

I think this is a very good assessment.

Infanticide, so do male bears, hippos, lions, but not retaliatory, other reasons like wanting to hasten estrous. Less competition, whatever. With CG, not only was it possibly retaliatory but given what we heard on the stand from gp, the boy was not schooled well, was not focused but was even worse when living with the M's, according to cg the boy was fat, and according to Gallucci the family could not properly raise a goldfish. In other words defective. I don't know if the caliber of ppl like the G's would consider any 4 year old they suddenly were burdened with anything but permanently inferior. Imo.
And, imo not worthy of the standing of first grandchild. I think Corey would permanently have had an implied asterisk, a "but" after his name with the G's. As in, oh here is our first grandchild Corey, "but"....

#ChristopherGregor's defense will begin their case Friday morning.#CourtTV

Catch up on the FACTS in the #TreadmillAbuseMurderTrial
here:

DAILY TRIAL UPDATES

DAY 8 – 5/22/24

  • The State called its final witness Wednesday morning, then rested their case in chief just before noon.
  • The State’s last witness was pediatric infectious disease specialist Anat R. Feingold, MD, MPH – and the State, apparently in anticipation of Mario Gallucci’s impeachment approach forthcoming on cross – proactively elicited the fact that this was Feingold’s first time ever providing expert testimony in court.
  • The State’s primary objective was to elicit expert testimony which excluded infectious disease as a cause of Corey’s death. This is because Dr. Baden is going to testify for the defense that Corey died of natural causes – pneumonia and sepsis.
  • For their part, the defense objective in cross-examining Dr. Feingold was quite clear – hammer home the fact that she’s not a forensic pathologist, in an effort to discredit her testimony about cause of death (or, in this case, what wasn’t the cause of death).
  • The timing of Dr. Feingold’s testimony was somewhat unwieldy, because she was clearly called by prosecutors to counter defense expert Dr. Baden’s findings re: Corey’s cause and manner of death, but the jury hasn’t heard Dr. Baden’s findings yet, other than in passing references by Mario Gallucci during opening statements.

MOO - high. But, Gregor Sr. is much smarter than his son and adept at making things look “not like they are”. So he looks different from CG. IRL, his biggest concern is that this case doesn’t affect his family’s reputation.
