How many air miles did he have and why is everyone assuming he did?

You usually can't get large tickets like to Manila at the last minute on miles. I gave up on trying to get to Hawaii with miles. Tried two years in a row.

Because his brother said he did.

I agree. I think he has saved more lives and probably another entire event of violence and destruction than he will ever realize. I think shooter thought that the security guard was one of many and he was caught. He didn't escape.in time. I think his plan was to hide in plain sight. Get out of the hotel like a scared guest, just like everyone else.

Also, for the number of guests- they ask me every time I order. It's because they ad silverware and a glass of water for each person. There have been times I said 1 that they put 2, so that I would have extra rolls or water or whatever. That ordered meal looks like something 1 person might order and have something for later.

I have been meaning to mention- on the cart on the hallway with the camera..... you can see the cord running off the back. And In the pic of the busted front door, you can see the same kind of wire going along the hallway.

Sometimes I would order room service for two but because I would save stuff for later to eat and not have to call again. If there was another person, I assume she(?) would be on video.

I don't know if MD knew what he was up to but I was talking to a friend from Dallas today and he said the six o clock news interviewed the gunstore owner in garland texas where the killer bought some guns a few years ago and the gunshot owner said M D was with the killer and flamboyant and had a "bedazzled" walking cane. I'm look for link.

Here's a link. Gun shop owner said Paddock lived nearby, came in a lot over the years. His wife was more unusual. Playing with his dogs on the floor.

I kinda think the planes were more for moving illegal stuff around the area. Maybe has time passed and operation grew he no longer needed to be the actual pilot and let his license to expire .

The Sheriff made it sound like foreign people are talking - I don't know if that only refers to gf or others

Whatever activity it is I think brother is fully involved -- he kept trying to steer the narrative way into steve acted alone

he kept repeating that

he endlessly needed the world to believe that he was a pro gambler--a cover for illegal something??

It just seems like a long enough time has passed to have some actual documentation about property deeds etc etc etc no?

In other cases here folks know how to get deeds values etc of homes and properties so maybe that is all part of a cover to create a reason for income stream that is really illigal goods or services

Agree. Even in the USA, it's difficult to go from being a postal worker to drone accountant to multi-millionaire real estate investor in a few years. From what they've found so far, Paddock only had 10 yrs of legitimate, verifiable employment his entire life. Not saying it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely.

The fact he worked so hard to stay off the radar, no criminal offenses, constantly moving, multiple homes/addresses, living out of hotels and motels, etc. indicates someone involved in illegal activities.

She was on the floor with my dogs for about an hour-and-a-half, and just was in love with them

Haha oh jesus, I shouldn't be laughing at any of this but I'm the type to be petting the dog at the party. Maybe I need to pay more attention to the humans!

One fellow gambler at a casino near Paddock’s home recounted a bizarre incident from a few months back when he shared a blackjack table with the shooter.

“He said, ‘I wish I could just go kill my mom. I don’t know why the hell she brought me into this world,’ ” recalled Leo Miller, 85, a regular at the Eureka Casino.

“Everybody at the table couldn’t believe what he said . . . When he was sober, he was nice as anybody. His drinking got to the point where he didn’t even know what the hell he was doing on the table.”

Ex-cop Hope Ahrens, 63, said Paddock and his live-in girlfriend Marilou Danley, 62, stopped in most mornings for coffee and a Krispy Kreme doughnut at her gas station.

Danley would also pick up two cheap bottles of wine for $3 each during the morning stop.

Ok, this explains a lot more. It sounds like he was depressed and drinking heavily, not a good combination. Drinking in the morning? Also bad. If he was drinking so heavily, he was probably losing more than winning at gambling.

Sounds like he was deteriorating, in a downward psychological spiral. Just the kind of guy who should NOT have been allowed to buy all those guns.

He also looked at a concert in Las Vegas with Lorde and Chance the Rapper the week before. So this had nothing to do with it being a country music festival. This guy was just looking to maximize the number of people he could kill. By the time the Harvest Festival came around he had decided to reserve multiple rooms in multiple hotels in the area. Maybe he was scoping out the best one to shoot from. But he also could have been setting up additional rooms to hide in afterwards. I believe he was going to try to get out, get to his car at some point, and then use the explosive devices inside it to create more chaos and death.

I am having so much trouble with the hero security guards story. I just don't understand how an unarmed security guard managed to approach that door and end up with a minor shot to the leg while SP struck people with head shots from over 1000 feet away!!! That whole scenario before the police arrived is baffling to me from the police scanners. I'm not accusing the security guy just thinking aloud....was he spared deliberately??? Known to SP???

Because in a hallway one can take cover, whereas being shot from unknown direction people couldn't.

I guess there’s conflicting reports bc this link says the tanks were not penetrated

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...g-stephen-paddock-police-say-had-escape-plan/

I can't find it now, but earlier I saw some pictures of the bullet holes in the tanks. I'm pretty sure at least one bullet penetrated the tanks. There may be some confusion as to how far into the tank the bullets penetrated.

I don't think he was even aiming for the tanks. If he had been aiming for the tanks, there would have been hundreds of bullet holes, not just two. I think those were just random bullets.

Did anyone see any sparks coming from either window thro the entire sequence?/

The officers on the scene, saw the flash coming from the windows.

I don't think so. He had no criminal record. He made his money legally in real estate. I don't think he had any other criminal activity. IMHO.

It seems to me like there was a family history of being a psychopath and he probably had those genetics. I would say either something happened that set him off about a year ago and he started planning this... or he had a double life and has been killing people for many years but got away with it. That kind of desire to inflict pain.. seems odd it would only surface at age 64.

Is it possible that he had a tiny bit of conscience and he found that drinking pushed away the repulsion of what he was planning to do?

I agree. I don't see anything on the receipt that suggests it was for anyone other than himself. Except maybe the two Pepsis, and maybe he just wanted two Pepsis.

Sure, but what kind of law prevents a man who is drinking at casinos and in a downward spiral and likely not seeing a doctor from buying guns?

The brother claimed they had millions of miles while the gfriend is describing him finding a cheap ticket -- incongruence alert!!
I tend to believe the girlfriend, partly based on things I've seen with men of this age group. Listening to the brother and him saying he could have broken up with his partner without him knowing about it, yet the brother supposedly has all this knowledge of his financial situation reminds me of a couple of situations. My dad and his brother are both braggarts to a degree. They are rarely together and when they are they are often trying communicate how well they are doing and nobody knows if any of it is true. If something happened with my uncle my father could only tell you what my uncle has told him about his financial situation. My mother's brother also wanted everyone to know how well he'd done. We knew he had a nice house and a private plane and that he claimed to own entire streets. But to this day we don’t know how much if it was true. My dad always suspected he wasn't quite as wealthy as he let on. You know who might know? The wives of these men. And that's it. They know the truth and details probably, at least after my uncle's death my aunt have known the full truth. If anyone did know when he was alive it would have been her.

Maybe he was starting to get all the guns out, etc, so he only wanted room service once so they wouldn't see inside the room?

The brother hadn't spoken to him in months. I believe he said the gunman texted him to check on them for the hurricane (Harvey, Irma?)....

The brother is talking out of his butt....

It's possible, if he's a true psychopath, that he had been having murderous fantasies for years. Perhaps those fantasies were getting worse and drinking was a way to deal with it, along with worsening depression. In reality, drinking usually only makes it worse.

Right so if he was frugal but rich, why wouldn’t he use his miles? Why would he pay for a flight, even if it was cheap? Especially if he plans of committing a massacre
I don't know how miles work. So I'm asking here. If you want a very specific flight, might you not be able to get one with your miles if it's booked pretty solidly? I'm wondering if he wanted her gone by a certain time if he had to pay. Or maybe there are other restrictions on miles? But again, the brother only knows what he was told. Maybe the guy did not have the miles or the money he claimed to have for that matter.
