With the Alford plea, Turner avoids trial & does not admit guilt, but she accepts the punishment that goes along with the concession that there is enough evidence to convict. Las Vegas court records say that the plea was entered on Wednesday (11/9/22) afternoon. All hearings scheduled have been cancelled.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The former roommate of Kelsey Turner, Diana Nicole Pena, was sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to being an accessory in the murder of Dr. Burchard.

Diana Nicole Pena previously claimed in 2019 that she had “nothing to do with the murder” and that she “turned herself in” to tell her side of the story. She would later enter a plea deal, which would reduce her previous charges to accessory to murder.

During court proceedings, Pena appeared emotional and read a prepared statement in which she apologized for "the hurt, sorrow and loss" that she caused with her involvement in "this tragic event." Her attorney also disclosed to the judge that Pena is currently on antidepressants, maintaining three jobs and living in Michigan.

4/5/19 Update: Warrants were issued for Diana Nicole Pena Friday, 4/5/19. Was still on the run as of 4/14/19.
4/13/19 Update: Pena booked into Clark County jail. Appearance on 4/14/19 appointed attorney, no bail. Next Status hearing on 4/16 & Status check hearing on 4/30 and preliminary hearing on 6/3. 4/30/19: Bond stays the same. Next Preliminary hearing on 6/3.
