Trump keeps boasting about how, when elected, he will take revenge against his enemies, "from day one". Who are these people- judges and attorney generals, no less, as well as civil servants, and politicians who haven't toe'd his insane lines. I hope people are listening to what he is saying.
In every trial I have followed, there has been counter accusations, (Lucy Letby's gang of four), out right lies, (Alex Murdaugh wasn't at the dog kennels the night his son and wife were murdered there), and gaslighting, (Jodi Aries was the real victim, not Travis!), and these normally get a lot of media attention. They are often times no more than sensational click baits, but some people always believe them. Almost inevitably, following such "revelations", some of us express reservations about the jury coming to a guilty verdict, even though it seems clear that the defendant is guilty as charged. In all the three cases I've cited, the defendant's seem like unlikely candidates to be murderers, but all are currently incarcerated after being found guilty.
Donald Trump is very successful at sensationlist click bait material, and he has, in the past, been reasonably successful at avoiding appropriate responsibility for some quite bad behaviour. The inner cynic in us all wonders if x or y is just going to be another legal nothingburger. He is, according to some not very rigorous polling, the leading candidate for the GOP, he would beat Biden if an election was held today, and he hasn't even participated in the preselection debates, can anything stop this man?
Well, it's a year out, and polling results at this point have been historically meaningless. These polls are apparently made up of people who answer a random call on their home phone, and is willing to answer questions, mostly older, retired people apparently. Hardly a representative cross section. The GOP is a massive mess, and more than one is being called to account for shady dealings, and Trump hasn't actually successfully been preselected yet. Really, it is impossible to understand Trump's electoral chances, assuming he gets there, in any meaningful way at the moment. He lost last time though, and some of his worst behaviour has been since then, that is probably not good for his campaigning with most people. He has trial after trial to navigate. HIs navigation, thus far, hasn't been successful. Let us watch these trials, and perhaps the campaign, reminding ourselves what we do know, and trying not to be distracted by the dross
