I am impressed with the prosecutors and the Judge. Very professional.

I wonder how the jury feels about the defendant cheating on his wife shortly after the birth of their son. I could never vote for any candidate--male or female--who cheats on taxes, business expenses, tells lies and when caught, continues to lie.

JMO
IMO:
it looked like after Stormy's testimony the prosecutors had no need for Karen McDougal.
if any jurors weren't aware of both women before the trial especially Stormy then they got an ear full after Todd Blanche made the big mistake in his opening that hotel room door by claiming Trump's innocence and denying he was with Stormy basically calling her a liar.

Yes! 2006

Stormy met with Trump in the summer of 2006 and some jurors may be aware that Barron was born in 2006 and/or became 18 this past March and just graduated last week.
If they weren't aware of the Melania timeline then they may have put 2+2 together during the trial?

It will be 9 years on June 16 since Trump did his escalator shtick in 2015 and as far as his base supporters go there's absolutely nothing that he says or does changes their devotion to him and have continued financial support for him and at the ballot box.

I'm of the mindset that "The Great American Experiment" is on its last breath and Trump was the catalyst who will leave a legacy like none other.

Oh, and I will never look at a bottle of "Old Spice" the same. lol

5/21/24 Tuesday, Trial Day 16: *Defense witness: Robert Costello [a lawyer that Cohen testified Trump’s team pushed him to hire right after the FBI raided Cohen’s home & office in April 2018] back on stand for cross examination.
*Defense rested their case.
*Judge Merchan addressed the jury: normally you'd hear summations now, but in a case like this, summations will take a while, as will his jury instructions, which he predicts will take an hour. Because we're meeting only today & Thursday, Merchan says there's no way we could do what needs to be done in a cohesive manner, it would be too broken up—best thing would be to adjourn now until Tues. At that time they'll hear summations, then the jury charge, then deliberations. Judge Merchan adjourned the court until next Tuesday, 5/28/24. He expects jury deliberations to begin on Wednesday, 5/29/24.

Judge Merchan says that he provided the jury instructions to the defense and prosecution on Thursday afternoon and that neither side has commented on them. They are now final.

President Joe Biden's campaign is scheduled to hold a news conference outside the court this morning at 10:15 ET.

The news conference is set to include the campaign team and "special guests," although the news release didn't say who they would be.
(includes press conference with Robert De Niro)

Blanche has been walking through each of the stories that were caught and killed. But he is mixing up details. He mentioned, for example, that Karen McDougal’s business manager was Gina Rodriguez. But Rodriguez worked for Stormy Daniels, not McDougal.

He raised his right hand And. He. Lied. To. Each. Of. You., Blanche continues. You cannot convict someone, to send someone to prison—objection, sustained—based on the word of Michael Cohen.
...
Jury gone, Steinglass rises to ask for a curative instruction related to Blanche's prison comment. He also says defense used the ruling to not give limiting instruction re: retainer agreements as a sword, rather than shield, and have now misstated NY law.
...
Merchan chastises Blanche for the prison comment as Someone who's been a prosecutor and defense attorney as long as he has, Blanche should know it's highly inappropriate, simply not allowed—period—and hard for him to believe that was accidental. He will give curative instruction

Following the break, Judge Merchan begins with an instruction to the jury after Todd Blanche ended his closing statement by telling jurors they can't send Trump to "prison" based on Michael Cohen's words. "That comment was improper, and you must disregard it," he says, adding they shouldn't consider or speculate about possible sentencing, given that's his responsibility.

Steinglass focuses on inconsistencies in defense argument

Steinglass zeroed in on an example of what the prosecution considers an inconsistency in the defense team's case. He told the jury that if the $420,000 payment for Cohen was for legal services, as the defense argued, Cohen could not have stolen $60,000 from the Trump Organization, as the defense also argued. It's either one or the other, the prosecutor argues — not both.

---
Steinglass is laying out how “the defense has gone to great lengths to shame Stormy Daniels, saying that she changed her story” but adds that “her false denials have been thoroughly discussed and explained.”

“She lived 2017 in pure silence, Michael Cohen came out and said sex never happened” and Daniels “felt compelled to set the record straight,” he said.

Steinglass said that “parts of her testimony” were “cringeworthy” and “uncomfortable.”

But details like “what the suite” at Harrah’s “looked like” and how the toiletry bag appeared “ring true.”

“They’re the kind of details you’d expect someone to remember,” Steinglass explained, adding that, “fortunately, she was not asked or did she volunteer specific details of the sexual act itself.”

“It certainly is true you don’t have to prove that sex took place — that is not an element of the crime, the defendant knew what happened and reinforces the incentive to buy her silence,” explained Steinglass.

“Her story is messy,” he said. “But that’s kind of the point. That’s the display the defendant didn’t want the American voter to see.”

“If her testimony were so irrelevant, why did they work so hard to discredit her?” he added. “In the simplest terms, Stormy Daniels is the motive.”
