  Threlkeld was last seen in Silver Creek, New York on March 8, 1976. She had left the Anderson-Lee Library and was walking home on Central Avenue when she disappeared. She has never been heard from again. Few details are available in her case.
  

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a new lead in a 46-year-old missing person case.

Judith Threlkeld, who was 22 years old at the time, was reported missing on March 8th, 1976. She had been reported as last being seen at the Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek.

Last month, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Unsolved Crimes Unit reportedly received information from a citizen about the Threlkeld case while investigating an unrelated homicide case.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Threlkeld was 22 years old when she was last seen March 8, 1976, walking home on Central Avenue in Silver Creek after leaving Anderson-Lee Library. Her disappearance was reported to the village’s police department, which oversaw the investigation for years without an answer.

Now 46 years later and without much else known about the events leading to Threlkeld going missing, investigators are taking a proactive approach to get the word out.

A Facebook page, “Unsolved Chautauqua,” https://m.facebook.com/Unsolved-Chautauqua-100972326017754 has been created in the last few days to highlight open missing person cases and unsolved crimes. It follows the establishment of the Unsolved Crimes Unit within the Sheriff’s Office comprised of investigators Tom Tarpley and Tom Di Zinno to go over open cases with a fresh set of eyes.

The unit, through its new Facebook page, detailed the Threlkeld case in a call to the public for new information.

Tarpley and Di Zinno have reached out to Threlkeld’s relatives and are in the process of contacting those who had worked in Silver Creek before the police department was dissolved.

“They are working on trying to get files in Silver Creek,” Nutt said. “Being an unsolved missing person case, the information might be limited from a long time ago.”

Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office looking for leads in 1976 missing persons case

Judith Threlkeld, 22, disappeared in 1976. She was reportedly walking along Central Avenue in Silver Creek when she went missing.

Now, investigators with the sheriff's office are looking for new leads in the case.

On Thursday, they released a picture of a dump truck, similar to one that was seen on Howard Street in the Village of Silver Creek around time Threlkeld went missing. They believe the vehicle was operated by a a white, adult male in his mid-twenties with sandy blond hair and a beard.

Last month, the Unsolved Cases team was looking to identify a private investigator that a family member of Threlkeld hired in the 1980s to look into her disappearance. That family member has since died and investigators are hoping they can locate the private investigator.

Last July, police said they received information on the Threlkeld case while investigating an unrelated homicide case, but did not release any further details.

Her mother Theresa died in 1996 and her father Henry in 2006 but she has several siblings still alive based on Ancestry records. In Henry's obituary at GenealogyBuff.com - Chautauqua County, New York Obituary Collection - 18 (scroll down - his is the 3rd listed) Judy is given as a survivor (but this may be in the absence of contrary evidence).
