Case History
The decedent was a patient at the South Carolina State Hospital. She was unable to provide her real name due to schizoprenia, but did provide a birth date of January 31, 1944, however this has not been verified. While in the hospital's care, she had an accidental, fatal fall.
The local media covered her case extensively, but she remained unidentified. She was buried in the county cemetery as "Jane Doe" by the Richland County Coroner's Office.
Prior to her hospitilization, she had been wandering the streets, preaching to people, and claiming to be the daughter of televangelist Oral Roberts.
In 1996, her remains were exhumed as part of an effort to determine her identity.

Similar face hair and height, eye colour brown for Valerie where Jane Doe is blue, also the age is quiet off, although Valerie looked older for a 20 year old. Hope Jane Doe DNA is entered soon.

I came across this article from October 1981

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1981/1...arently-dismembered-by-a-power/1982372571200/

NEW YORK -- Portions of a body apparently dismembered by a power saw were discovered Thursday in Brooklyn, the fourth such discovery in recent weeks, police said.
A piece of a right hip and the back of a head with pieces of flesh still attached were found by a motorist who stopped on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn.

The pieces were discovered in the bushes a short distance from the highway.

It was the fourth such discovery in the area in the past two months. Three other torsos have been found floating in Jamaica Bay and in the creeks of Gateway National Park.
Detective Dennis Malloy of the 69th precinct said the parts appeared to have been cut by a power saw. He said police believed the parts were those of a white male about 40 years old.

Police also reported Thursday the skeletal remains of a human were discovered by a Parks Department employee in a catch basin near the Hudson River in Manhattan.
Police said they were unable to determine whether the skeleton was that of a man or a woman.

There is not a whole lot of info about her on the MP sites. Does anyone know did she have children? Did she have any dental work done?

No info, but I'm born and raised in this area. Rough area back then, hipster haven nowadays.
That picture on the right by the water is Astoria Park. Many films shot there over the years.

But just wanted to say in general LIC as we locals call Long Island City was rough in those days. It was a dock/shipping area where you could walk right up to the water as seen in the picture. Definitely was not a friendly area at night (in those days), nowadays it's strictly rich people there.

Anything could have happened to her in those days, there were stretches with no metal railings(like the one in the picture) where you could literally walk into the east river.

Just felt bad reading this one and decided to post since its the hood I grew up in.
