Woman charged with killing 3 young girls in New Zealand
''WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- A 40-year-old woman was charged Friday with killing three young girls in a crime that has shocked New Zealand.

Police did not immediately identify the woman but the Stuff news agency said she was the girls' mother, Lauren Dickason, a doctor who had just moved to New Zealand from South Africa along with her daughters and husband Graham Dickason, an orthopedic surgeon.

Emergency services said that when they responded to an incident at the home in the South Island town of Timaru they found a woman, who was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police said the woman killed twin 2-year-old girls Maya and Karla and their 6-year-old sister Liane.''

The family had moved into housing for medical professionals near the Timaru Hospital less than a week earlier. Before that, as new arrivals to the country, they would have been required to spend two weeks in a coronavirus quarantine hotel run by the military.

Stuff reported that Graham Dickason returned home just before 10 p.m. Thursday and found the bodies of his daughters.

Neighbors Karen and Brad Cowper called police when they heard a man screaming and crying, Stuff said. The neighbors said they asked the man if he was OK but he didn't respond other than to say: "Is this really happening?"

Former nanny 'torn apart' over alleged murder of three girls in Timaru
''The former nanny of three girls allegedly murdered by their mother a week after moving to Timaru says she has been “torn apart” by the news..

The three children, twins Maya and Karla, 2, and their older sister, Liane, 6, were found dead by their father Graham Dickason shortly after 10pm on Thursday.

Dickason’s wife Lauren, 40, was taken to the nearby Timaru Hospital for treatment''

''Maria Mendy Sibanyoni was the girls’ nanny from November 2018 to May 2020. Speaking from her home in South Africa, she told Stuff she was shocked when she found out what had happened.''

"I was torn apart. I just lost it. Tears and everything, I'm not myself even now," she said.''

''The family were “excited” about their move to Timaru to start a new life after Graham Dickason got a job at Timaru Hospital.

“They were such a good family. I never saw anything wrong in that house.”

Dear God? Is there one?

What is going on, world?

Gorgeous children! Brilliant parents.

Is there something we don't know?
All i can think of at the moment, is that the combination of high stress jobs as doctors during covid, having 2 year old twins and a six year old not in school, moving to another country, just coming out of quarantine, all without their usual nanny who had been with the children since birth - and maybe even some of the insecurities that sometimes strike those turning 40 years old...
imo, speculation.

The voice of reason.

Dear @dotr thank you.

You have no idea how much that means.

We're all in this? I guess? Sadly. Just stunning kids. My tears lay with their Nanny.

Nope, sorry, no way, no way, no way will I EVER give a pass to ANY parent killing their own babies. Sadness and sickness and stress aren't good enough reasons. God (if you are a believer) has a PERFECT plan for all. We cannot divine divine mind. As there is divine goodness in this gift of a world there is also divine evil. We are, alas, but witnesses to both. I feel your confusion. I feel your pain.

Tragic detail in photo of little girls ‘killed by their mother’
''The South African community in Timaru is reeling at the tragedy.
“We are all saddened by the events that took place in the news this week. Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones involved,” the South Africans in Timaru community groups wrote on Facebook.
“We want to take this opportunity to thank those who acknowledged the heartache of it all and reached out to support the family and extended family.”

''Lauren has been described as a very soft, introverted person''.

“I cannot comprehend what happened - she is a medical doctor and she wasn’t arrogant or anything like that. She was very humble,” said former colleague and neighbour, Natasja le Roux.

The nicest person it could happen to is that woman. Natasja le Roux
She said the couple struggled to conceive their children.''

“They waited years for those children because she had troubles with fertility and stuff, so it really is a big shock,” she said.

She said Lauren had a lot of support when she was in SA.''

“They absolutely adored those children. They were so grateful for having them because they struggled to get pregnant and when they finally got the children, they loved them,” she said.''

''The neighbour, who didn't want to be named, described Lauren as a lovely person.

“Something just doesn’t seem right to us. We don’t know what happened. There is not a lot of information, but they are kind people.

“Something just doesn’t add up. I don’t know if it’s the stress from New Zealand, moving there, being quarantined for so long and everything - just not coping with that going on. So I think whatever happened is not normal, it wasn’t normal circumstances,” the neighbour said.''

Lauren Dickason, the mother who is accused of murdering her three children has been remanded in custody after appearing in court on Saturday.
Dickason, who didn't get name suppression, appeared in Timaru District Court where Judge Dominic Dravitzki remanded her in custody to a secure forensic mental health unit until October 5.
There was no application for bail and she faces three charges of murder. An application for name suppression was withdrawn during the hearing.
Dickason was dressed in a grey hooded top and black trousers, she looked at the ground for most of the hearing.
Her three children, twins Maya and Karla and their sister Liane 6 were found dead at around 10pm on Thursday by their father Graham.
The 40-year old Lauren Dickason was taken to Timaru Hospital where she was later charged with murder.
The family had recently completed MIQ after arriving from South Africa and had settled in the South Island town.
The parents are both doctors and the father, an orthopedic surgeon, found his children dead when he returned to their Queen St home.
Area commander Insp Dave Gaskin said on Friday the incident "will be incredibly distressing for Timaru residents, particularly coming so soon after the town lost five of their young people in a crash", even if the family hadn't been in town very long.
"Police are working with our partner agencies to ensure that support is wrapped around those most directly affected by the tragic events of last night, and the wider community and we urge anyone who needs support to reach out."
Police said forensics expert were taking their time, still investigating the scene on Friday afternoon.
Speaking to Newshub earlier on Friday, neighbours say they were watching television on Thursday night when they "heard sort of a noise like a deep moan".
Jade and Rob Whaley say they went outside to investigate, but couldn't see anything of interest. They went back inside and about five minutes later heard "a loud bang", prompting them to go back out.
"We couldn't see the spotlight had come on so we knew someone wasn't on the property," Rob says. "It sorta sounds liked a car door being slammed or a car being kicked. We couldn't hear anything so we went back inside again."
But while they were inside, Jade said they heard more moaning "going on and on", perhaps from the offender.
"They were moaning and making lots of noise like, 'What have I done?'"

The police arrived shortly afterwards.

I’ll wait to see if it was really the mother who killed them.

SA mother to appear in New Zealand court for murder of three daughters | News24

Just a few weeks before moving to New Zealand to start a new life, the Pretoria mother accused of killing her three daughters put up an ominous post on Facebook about being sad and tired.

The social media post and translation can be found at the link.

The quote appears to have originated from another author, and LD simply shared that quote.

The following is MOO.

Perhaps the family had moved to New Zealand to escape whatever internal stressors and pressures they were facing in South Africa and have a “fresh start” in a completely new country, only for the move to have the opposite effect, leading them to become even more isolated (having to undergo a quarantine and being separated from any friends and family) and magnifying the mother’s stressors and pressures past the point of no return. That may explain why the judge remanded her to a hospital for a mental health evaluation at her court appearance, though perhaps this is standard in nature for such a case in New Zealand?

Mum's post praising 'beautiful kids' as she's held over their murder
''The only sign Dickason may have been distressed came in a cryptic Facebook post in March, which referred to the mental illness suffered by Hollywood stars like Demi Lovato, Robin Williams and Carrie Fisher.

She underlined a section in red which read: "Unfortunately we live in a world where if you break a bone everyone comes to sign the cast but if you tell people you're depressed they run the other way."

Dickason and her family had moved to New Zealand from South Africa days earlier to start a new life but on Thursday neighbours reportedly heard "haunting wails" and a woman sobbing at their house.''

''Neighbours said they heard a bang and then the sounds of sobbing and moaning at about 9.40pm.

Jade Whaley said: "The first noise we heard was somebody sobbing, and then we heard a loud thud like someone just slammed a door.

"We could see someone through our fence wandering behind the house and wailing."

''Police sealed off the house - which is leased by the local hospital for newly arrived staff - after paramedics tried in vain to save the girls.''
