Jewel, I want to sincerely thank you for keeping us update on Hannah's case.

You have been such an asset in making sure Hannah's horrific death wasn't forgotten, and who did this evil act against her.

Yes, you indeed are a jewel for doing so. I have read all of your trial updates even though I've only posted now.

Again, thank you, my long time friend.

We must never forget Hannah, and so many like her.

It's a never ending trail of tears for the most innocent ones in our society. Heaven weeps, and so do we.

So many little graves now in so many graveyards filled with precious little children who's lives were taken from them in such brutal ways.

Even sadder, is we know there will be more little victims like Hannah to come.

Imo

Ocean if we don't report these trial then no one will know what goes on during the trials. We as people need to be there for all of these poor children. Even if the family's don't know that we are behind them.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if this was the last one. My friend I know you have been around for many more than myself. I always respect your opinion on cases. I look forward to seeing more of you. Hopefully under better circumstances.

Take care Ocean!

BUTLER COUNTY —
A May sentencing date has been set for Lindsay Partin, the Hanover Twp. babysitter who was found guilty Friday night of murder, involuntary manslaughter and four counts of child endangering for the abuse and death of toddler Hannah Wesche.
But by law, Partin can be sentenced on only some of those charges, according to prosecutors.

Partin will face a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years for the murder charge. She can also be sentenced to an additional three years for the child endangering charges pertaining to slapping and hitting the 3-year-old on March 6 and 7, 2018 before she was fatally injured on March 8, according to Butler County Assistant Prosecutor Kelly Heile.

So Partin could be sentenced by Butler County Common Pleas Judge Greg Stephens to a maximum of life in prison with parole eligibility after 18 years.

Sentencing is set for May 9.

Lindsay Partin, the Butler County babysitter who was convicted last month on charges including murder in the death of a 3-year-old last year, was sentenced this morning to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 18 years.

...

Before the sentencing, a family member and friend of Partin’s spoke on her behalf. They said they believe she is innocent, and Partin’s attorney, Melynda Cook Howard, said she plans to appeal. She asked the judge for a minimum sentence, even though the sentencing guidelines were strict in this case.

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio —

A Butler County babysitter was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison Thursday for the death of a 3-year-old girl.

Judge Greg Stephens sentenced Lindsay Partin, 36, to 18 years to life on charges including murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering children.

Stephens said a murder conviction in Ohio requires a mandatory 15 years to life sentence. Stephens sentenced her to an additional 36 months for endangering children. That sentence will run consecutive to the murder conviction.

Thanks @Tortoise
Bits of the video outlined...

Count 6:

Lifetime sentence with chance of parole at 15 years. Also, register under Sierah's Law as a lifetime violent offender.

This is a mandatory sentence, she will not have any ability to earn days of credit for good time, she will not have any ability to file for any early judicial release.

Justice For Sierah

Count 1:

36 months runs consecutive to count 6 - Judge's finding:

" consecutive sentences are necessary to protect the public from future crime or to punish the offender , probably more to the point to punish the offender. I don't know that it is a general safety concern based on the various specific nature of the convictions, but I do find that it is certainly necessary to punish the offender. I'm going to find the consecutive sentences are not disproportionate due to the seriousness of the offenders conduct. And I'm going to make the additional finding because the statute does give one of three other additional findings that I have to make.
I'm going to preface this by once again pointing out the fact, scenario that we are dealing with, Count 1 again was for events that took place between March 6-7 2018. It is separate and distinct from the events of March 8 which was the subject of the conviction of Count 6 , therefore I do have a scenario where the jury has convicted Ms. Partin on more then one event that basically takes place in one sequential series of events.

I do find, pursuing to the statute, that the harm was so great that a single term would not adequately reflect the seriousness .
In other words I believe if I would give a concurrent sentence as to Count 1, because count 1 does involve a 3 year old child, does involve a conviction, a jury has found that she did torture or cruelly abuse a child under the age of 18 again, a 3 year old child. I do feel that to run that concurrent would not adequately reflect the seriousness of the convictions rendered by the jury.

So that is going to be the additional finding."

-snip-

imposing court costs
civil action is pending
31 days of credit served
Attorney's will be filing for appeal

Judge: " I don't have any words of wisdom, I know that everybody involved in this, it's a devastating situation. For Hannah's family there is no moving on past this completely. I just hope that everybody at some point can find a measure of closure, and I wish everyone the best."

A Hanover Twp. woman who was convicted last year of killing a 3-year-old girl she was babysitting is continuing her fight to have the conviction overturned.

SBM
A motion filed in October at the 12th District Court of Appeals by defense attorneys said there were alleged legal errors. It claims that Partin’s case was prejudiced when the prosecution failed to disclose some facts and that she received constitutionally ineffective assistance of counsel.

The appeals court hearing was set for April 6 but postponed because of precautions for the coronavirus. A new date has not been scheduled.
