Chief Hickman was asked about this at a press conference and replied “no comment”. I do not believe it to be confirmed that Harley is autistic.
Though there are multiple places mom has stated it publicly.

Might be a case where it was suspected when he was younger but turned out not to be or something?

I would think if it were a confirmed diagnosis it would have been included in the BOLO and endangered listings as it would be important information for someone who might come across him to know.

Low end of the spectrum would mean he is nonverbal and has intellectual disabilities. This is definitely not what's going on with Harley. I haven't seen his videos so I can't tell you what I think, but when you are 14 you have little experience so every let down just hits so hard.

My mistake, talking to hubby as I wrote and not an expert. I have yet to see his videos but was just throwing out a possible reason his mom would mention (as someone stated in previous posts) him being autistic but it not being mentioned by LE. The point being that maybe he hadn’t been diagnosed but was high functioning.

Yes -- he too left home after a dispute with his parents over his cell phone. Teen angst.... What seems so trivial in reality is life-threatening to a 14 year old.

So still seems not clear whether he did or did not go home on Thursday evening after being at a friends house. Worrying that (I assume) the friends parent did not ensure he got home Ok, didn’t escort him, didn’t contact HD mum to confirm where her kid was. I hate it that adults are so casual about children’s care and wellbeing.

There’s been mention on here of a video showing the parent asking HD to go home Thursday night- anyone know where this info came from? I note there’s been no timeline given in the LE updates about what time his Mum said he arrived back home that night, another red flag.

I am having a hard time believing the claim he was at home Friday morning and left 6-7am for school. That’s very early too, What time does school even start?

It would be a massive coincidence that he was abducted randomly as he left his friends house or from his own house on Friday morning. On the other hand, It’s a huge coincidence that he’s been giving out his details on SM and has now gone missing- I hope LE are all over his digital footprint as I’m veering in the direction he has met up/ gone off with someone.

i understand your point. but being naive imo is not an all inclusive yes or no. for instance yes in that transcript it seems he has got a lot of stuff "under control" so to speak and is able to play it to what he thinks is his favor but if he got into a completely new situation, like somebody evil picked him up, then i think he's probably totally naive about what is up ahead for him and is learning that now, unfortunately. MOO.

This case is so convoluted.
Obviously, his home life must have played a role. He was vulnerable. I personally believe parents should be held responsible for allowing their children's emotional vulnerability just the same as physical. If I allowed my child to ride in the car without a seatbelt, I'm accountable for what happens. Emotionally vulnerable kids are catnip to predators.
I just wish we knew if he met up with someone . I hope that LEO has some idea. I think they do. Obviously and understandably they cannot tell us.

Per the Port Clinton high school website, school starts at 7:30.

my opinion is that it is possible he left in a huff, early, because of their disagreement. To blow off steam, or go around the block etc.

“According to Port Clinton police, Harley Dilly was last seen by his mother the morning of Friday, Dec. 20 just before 7 a.m. as he left for school. ”

Also I’m beginning to think that the phone was possibly broken much earlier. On his YouTube channel, there are 6 videos from “3 weeks ago”:

one on 12/6
Two on 12/7
Two on 12/8
One on 12/10

and then nothing. With this frequency leading up to, I find it unlikely that he would have taken a 10 day break prior to his disappearance. In the 12/26 briefing, Chief states that a Harley broke his phone “about a week ago”, which would put it at 12/19 or so, but I think it’s closer to 12/10.

Im just concerned it being broken for so long could have contributed to a lot of doom and gloom in his mind. It’s clear he was very attached to it and social media was his outlet.

well put. thanks. it's sounds like you made it through tough times so nice going for that. and all the best for you going forward. i agree that this situation has a lot of twists unfolding as it goes forward. i've decided that he most likely is not with a "friend" his age because the responsible parties of his friend would have turned him in by now.

I agree. The penalties for harboring a runaway in OH aren't small. If he's with someone.... I don't know .
I can't see a friend covering this long unless his home life truly was that bad.

Ugh...with all the stories in the news involving teens, who knows what to think anymore.
I hope he didn't get caught up in bad stuff.

With all the technology and apps designed to help kids keep secrets, it's a terrible issue. I hate what technology is doing to our kids.

Looks like he livestreamed on the 15th. No views. Maybe it failed due to broken phone?

This also why I'm afraid his being gone so long is involuntary. Would he be able to resist his SM?

Maybe HD never made it home and LE has the video with the correct time and purposely is not sharing to give out more opportunity for leads.

Good Morning Friends,

Unfortunately, we have NO new information that I am able to share with you this morning regarding Harley.

What I would like to share is that Harley’s parents have fully cooperated with this investigation and continue to do so. Please read nothing into the press conference when I stated “no comment”, as that is not the case!

I would also like to add the following, if you have nothing nice to say, please private message me on our Facebook page as I read each and every comment. I personally don’t know how I would react if one of my grandchildren went missing and I would venture to say, neither do most of you!

The Dilly’s entire life has been and continues to be scrutinized on social media, their ONLY concern right now is that HARLEY is returned to them safely…

I continue to ask that you give us a couple more days to complete the searches that we need to accomplish before you begin searching on your own. Please understand that we will be continuing to search for Harley, however I know that you want to assist as well.

Information as of December 31st, 2019;

• I would like to advise you that through the entire investigation of the disappearance of Harley Dilly, the family has fully cooperated and we have no reason to believe they are involved.
• Our investigators continue to research the records that we have been able to obtain thus far.
• The investigation is being conducted by federal, state and local law enforcement partners.
• Here’s what I need from you. I need the investigation to be allowed to continue uninterrupted.

While may of us may not agree with some of their parenting choices, it's wise to remember that they are not POIs or anything of the sort.

The phone was broken kinda bothers me as it was his obviously his life line. Does that phone not being available to him change his whole outlook on his situation?

MOO But what if his phone was broken,damaged,destroyed etc but NOT by HD?,not stating anything other than my own theory that it's possible he wasnt the one who broke his phone,and not sure what implication it could have on his disappearance if thay had been the case.
