If the official FB page was made private by accident, and will be back to public in a few days, are we allowed to bring info from there? There have been several changes to the story, however, I don't want to violate any rules.
Not until it is public.

Most recent update:

Body found in woods identified as missing man

“On Monday evening, Reader reported the discovery of the body and also reported that a homicide investigation is being conducted.

The sheriff's office asks that if anyone has any information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of involved parties pertaining to this case please call the Pike County Sheriff's Office

A search warrant was obtained for the collection of the body and search and seizure of items in the area for evidence purposes, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff reports that on Tuesday, he, along with Chief Robert Barbee, Chief Ryan Bentley and investigators Clemmons and Cottrill, attended the autopsy at the Montgomery County Examiner's Office, where the identity of the body was positively identified through finger prints as Shane Walls.

"The cause of death remains undetermined at this time.
The investigation is ongoing."

Wonder if this is the witness who is "unavailable" to testify.

If so, it may have been the Wagners who killed him. What a toxic, lawless family. It's a good thing most of them are behind bars now. I hope that's where they stay.

This thread is in circles. Imo.

Posters refer to a previous link but that leads me to this link.

Does anyone know the current status of Mr Vance murder?

It's hard to not notice just how soon he was murdered after a family of 4 were arrested for the murder of 8 in the same county. Unknown source?

Bump

I had forgotten all about this case. I searched for news articles and the Fox19 one below (May 2019) came up as most recent. I have no idea what Junk is referencing with his quote, if one thing really has to do with the other and how all this weaves together to fit in the same article.
The only thing that I could cross reference easily as to why Shane's case was mentioned in the article is Deputy R.C. was one called to the scene and Reader responded as well??Junk seems to imply Reader wasn't to touch it due to the Auditing Investigation.
The anonymous tip on Reader came in to the state a few days before Wagner arrests, it's odd all this was spinning (R.Cottrell, S Reader, S Walls, and Wagner arrest) at the same time and nothing more has been reported.

You would have thought if someone raided your office you would have stayed away from any pending investigations but apparently that’s not happening," Junk told FOX19 NOW Monday. "I doubt if many counties have ever run into something like this.” (What is he referring to here? Shane's Case or the all things spinning at once?)

In an interview earlier Monday, Junk told us he should have asked the sheriff to avoid criminal cases he could be called as a witness in at the time the auditor’s office “raided his office.”
Now, the sheriff’s office is investigating a homicide after a bag was found last month with decomposed human remains of a man last seen in December.

Shane Walls, 36, of Waverly, was reported missing to the sheriff’s office on Feb. 19, Reader said a news release last month. Walls was last seen two months earlier, on Dec. 19.

The sheriff requested the assistance of Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to process and collect evidence from the scene.
Reader has said his office is handling the investigation.

“You would have thought if someone raided your office you would have stayed away from any pending investigations but apparently that’s not happening," Junk told FOX19 NOW Monday. "I doubt if many counties have ever run into something like this.”

Pike County sheriff, prosecutor feud after prosecutor asks sheriff to avoid criminal investigations

Pike County investigators Major B. Clemmons and Corporal R. Cottrill responded to the call and located the bag in a wooded area a few yards from Trego Road. Reader also responded to the scene and the county corner was notified.

This article has a good timeline of activities regarding the Sheriffs Office. 2/9 Brian Reader was Released and 5/3 is when Junk sent the letter to Reader warning him off conducting investigations. (Posting it in this thread due to the timing and prior article.)

Feb 9: Pike County Prosecutor Rob Junk fires Brian Reader, his investigator, who is the sheriff's brother. Reader was an at-will employee so Junk didn't have to give a reason.

May 3: Junk sends Reader a letter essentially warning him off conducting any investigations until he had been cleared of his own wrongdoing allegations. That led to social media sparring between the two.

Is it clear whether Junk was referring to Reader investigating Shane Walls' death?

If so, is there something about Shane Walls death or other activities that could cause problems with prosecuting the Wags? Could this be a reference to the "undercurrent of drugs" involved in the Rhoden Murders? I can understand the prosecution wanting to keep it out of the news until the 4 Wags are convicted, if it possibly could result in a distraction to the benefit of the killers.

I'm tempted to think this may be the case and let sleeping dogs lie for now, until the 4 Wags are convicted. But once that's done, it sounds like they need to follow up on locking up Walls' killer.
